Last weekend, the Latvian championship was held in Daugavpils at 50 and 100 kilometres highway. The talented long distance runner Andrejs Yko of Nagļu parish finished the first, and with a time of 3 hours for 41.6 seconds, corrected the current record of Latvia for almost four minutes. Along with the Latvian champion, Andrejs Yesko became a Governor OF LVS in the newly formed sports classes.

In the last half of the year, Latvia's record of 50 kilometres has been corrected for a third time, indicating the future potential of this distance. By the end of the last year, the best achievement belonged to Raivis hazaar (3:13:44) living in Ireland until Anatoly Macuks, in Qatar's World Championship, corrected it for three minutes (3:10:50). On March 6, 2016, Arthur Barek, living in Kenya, ran 50 kilometres (3:04:40) IN THE U.S. city of New York, where the fourth place was equivalent to a new record of Latvia. But Andrejs Yesko's nun did not override the previous record for another four minutes (3:00:41, 6).

Andrejs Yesko admitted that he had been focused on this run, before running a People's run in Rēzekne's half-marathon, the base distance in the Biearnieki Semmarathon, and the lynch distance in Sigulda's deer bucket. A longer distance was selected for each next start in preparation for a 50 kilometres challenge in Daugavpils.

“I felt very good from the start,” said Andrew. “In fact, by relying and running for self-sensation, the starting circles came even faster than i would have wanted, but as it comes naturally and without compression, i did not stop myself from being braked at this early stage, allowing the work of the work to be carried out.” The result of the rapid distance was also the result of a half-marathon running in one hour and 15 minutes. However, after that, the athlete did not lose speed and the classic marathon distance was performed in 2 hours and in less than 32 minutes, which already pointed to the threat of the current record of Latvia. The 50 kilometres run of Latvian championship was given eight o'clock in the morning, but in the third hour of run, the air temperature reached +23 degrees, which also affected the new ultramarathonist and prevented the Latvian runner from running 50 kilometres for the first time by three hours.

It turns out that the ultramarathonist at school is not a “crash”: “I play checkers at elementary school, then in high school, volleyball.” I focused on running sport at a relatively late time – in 2009, at the age of 28. ”

Andrew grew up with three more brothers. They are not foreign, but only Andrejs is professional with sport. Brothers are his support team in both competitions and training. For example, Brother Žanis deals with beekeeping in his home farm “Ships” and is the main hunter for honey products for the new record company: “I eat honey collected by my brother almost every day.” It is an invaluable source of carbohydrate and energy, while pollen and bee bread are a great substitute for the necessary trace elements and amino acids, ”emphasizes the athlete.

With the support of the municipality of Rezekne, Andrejs Yesko will go to a mountain trail training camp in Georgia. The new record company admitted that the victory in Daugavpils is only the beginning of his journey in the world of ultramarathons and he plans to start the competition outside Latvia.
