Results of the 2018 results of the project competition “Support for Entrepreneurship and Development in Rezekne District”

In 2018, 26 business project applications were submitted to the project competition “Development of Rural Economy in Rēzekne District” (LEARN) “Support for the start and development of entrepreneurship in Rezekne municipality”. In order to assess the allocation of funding for the realization of entrepreneurial expectations, a project evaluation Commission was established in five people:

  • Ineta Elksne, Executive Director of the Rēzekne District Communities Partnership,
  • Skaidrīte Baltace, head of the Latvian Investment and Development Agency (LIAA) Rēzekne business incubator,
  • Vita Pučka, THE head of THE “development finance institution ALTUM” Latgale region,
  • Guntis Rasims, President of the Rēzekne District Council, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Education, Culture and Sport,
  • Žanis Yko, owner of the beekeeping farm “Ships”.

The project for this year was initially estimated at eur 28 000.00, but when assessing the submitted project applications and the contribution of their implementation to the strengthening of the economy, a further eur 2 811,16 was transferred to the tender budget from the FOUNDATION FOR LEARN.
In the course of the evaluation of the projects, two applicants withdrew their applications.
The Commission adopted a decision to grant funding of eur 30 811,16 for the implementation of 11 project applications. Six beneficiaries will only start their economic activities and five will develop existing business. Business ideas will be introduced IN Kaunatas, Griškānu, Vērēmu, Bērzgales, Stružānu, Lendžu, Dricānu, and Gaigalavas parish. On the other hand, the development of sectors of the economy will contribute to the development of sectors such as food production (production of confectionery and coffee roasting), sewing and design services, photo services, music recording services, the training of young horses and the development of horticultural sport, wood fission and logging, and tourism and crafts.
