Education

Also in this semester, our school used the opportunities offered by the “Latvian School Finish” project to acquire new experience, knowledge, skills.
Class 1-3 students attended the “Joriks” exhibition “Spocus copy”. For students, the attendance of the theatre expanded the vision, they were able to ascertain where and how the skill to play in front of the audience was useful, learning that the theatre expressions were different, that the technology helped to realise the most unusual ideas.
For class 4 students, the “Latvian School Finish” initiative had the opportunity to go to Latvia's capital - Riga. The Latvian Natural Museum held a museum pedagogical lesson “look at the depths of the earth”, the pupils learned about rocks and minerals, surveyed the sand in the microscope, saw different types of sand, found out where the sand could be used. It was particularly interesting to define the rocks by analysing both their hardness and transparency and color. After learning, students were able to meet the entire museum exhibition – animals, birds, insects.
By attending the Latvian National Museum of Art, our pupils became art detectives. In order to do this task, both the card skills and the focus were needed, as it was necessary to find a number of paintings and creativity and knowledge, as they had to answer the questions of the museum employees.
With THE support of Stružānu parish administration, students had the opportunity to visit Riga National Zoo Gardens, where children could see animals of different species, amphibians, reptiles, particularly interesting animals.
The 6 th and 7 th classes participated in the museum pedagogical activity of Latgale culture museum “1991 – barricades time”, in which they learned what happened in January 1991, as this time changed the future of Latvia. Students were involved in the inquiry process, composed presentations, searched for keywords, and evaluated what they meant to be free.
To meet one of Latvia's 100-year films, the pupils went to Latgale embassy “Gors”, where they watched the 2018 best play “Bille”. The children followed with interest the events that were reflected on the big screen, as part of them had read the Belshevica novel Bille, so they could draw parallels between the written and the film.
As part of this project, students in Classes 6 and 7 visited Krustpils Castle, where they learned about the history and the people who lived there. The staff of the Krustpils Palace also led a soap-building workshop where the pupils learned how soap soap had been cooked sooner and now, finding out how to get the soap to have different tones, scent. They all worked on their own, adding a variety of herbs and naturally occurring plants, and the children formed each piece of soap.
The pupils also visited Nezgali, where they saw the largest arable stone in Latvia, it was interesting to see the impressive (more than 10 metres long and 3.5 metres high) nature design, the pupils admitted that by learning geography and looking at the picture in the book, the stone did not seem as large and powerful as in life.
The 9 th class visited the Livani glass museum, which looked at the exhibitions and participated in the glass blowing workshop. Students could in practice see how the latest technologies facilitate the work process that skills are needed to create glass objects.
As part of the “Latvian School Finish” initiative, they also visited Rēzekne City Theatre “Joriks” exhibition “articles for me tonight”, which emotionally moved and spoke. Students will be able to benefit from the learning process, both in the event of events, in a theatre assembly, in literature and music lessons, and in the development of their talent.
Thank you for participating in the implementation of the project for the Hearing Officers Wanda Kebei, Elitai Kuprukai, Dainai Veidai, Jekaterina Marmiwa and Stružānu parish administration for the provided transport!
