Education

Lucia Rananes McKashan's secondary school, like the rest of Latvia's schools, was involved in the project “Latvian School Finish”, which is the largest gift for Latvian children and young people in the centuries of the country.
It is a great opportunity to know our country's cultural and natural values, history and scientific achievements.
All classes visited Latgale museums and participated in various museum pedagogical programmes.
Classes 1, 2, 3, 4 went to Latgale cultural history museum and participated in the “clay pixel adventure” programme. The lesson was directed by the museum pedagogy Inga KCo. The children, along with a fairy image, went to the wonderful realm of Latgale ceramics and learned how the clay picks could be converted into a vase and other ceramic designs. With great enthusiasm, the children participated in the virtual play “clay transformation”, which had to play with gestures taken by the sensors, and it allowed the feeling to be slightly closer to reality, as well as the imitation of natural sounds using clay whistles. At the end of the lesson they formed themselves from the clay.
In the 5 th and 6 th classes, students attended a Viļānu novadpētniecības research museum and, with great interest and enthusiasm, participated in the museum pedagogical program “ancient Latvian force signs”. The pupils were introduced to the characters of the ancient Latvian force, their significance, as well as the usage in ancient times and today. Under the direction of the museum, the pupils were practically active with the signs of force, performing a variety of creative tasks.
As THE position of L. Ranāne in secondary school is focused on teaching positions, these lessons will encourage our pupils to create creative ideas for new jobs.
In the 7 th, 8 th, 9 th classes, students went to the museum of Latgale cultural history and visited the museum pedagogical programme “Latvian Freedom Fight”. Students had the opportunity to see the exhibition of Latgale artist works devoted to the centuries of Latvia. The children enjoyed the natural landscapes that had been performed in different techniques. This was followed by a lesson dedicated to the centuries of Latvia. Under the leadership of the museum, the pupils dealt with and modelled a variety of history-related tasks. Through an enthusiastic “ball game” and team games, students learned about our people's heroes - freedom fighters and their unselfish heroes. In the lesson they repeated and expanded their knowledge of Latvia's history. The students visited the historical exhibition Latvia from 1918 to today.
High school students participated with the museum pedagogical programme “24 hour latgalite”, which is closely related to the cultural historical heritage of Latgale and the preservation of the Latgalian language. With games and games, pupils knew the essence of Latgalians, with traditional “večerinks” activities remembered and learned the most commonly used Latgalian conversations and wecherinkas traditions. With the help of a presentation, students met the names of Latgale people in Latgalian language and elements of Latgalian household, thus making it possible to compare Latgalians in the past and present.
Activities in Latgale cultural history museum encouraged students to patriotism, self-awareness, and to understand and respect their county, the historical heritage and language of the country.
When they met Latvian architectural monuments, students visited the Rēzekne castle and Daugavpils fortress.
The primary pupils took part in the activities of the Rēzekne Tourism Information Centre “Pilskalna Expedition”, during which the guide encouraged children to go into exciting adventure and, using the map, search for the historical secrets and treasures of Rezekne. The children learned to do it, answered the questions, and learned a lot of interesting things about medieval life in Rezekne.
High school students surveyed the architectural and cultural history monument of national significance, the last built bastion-type fortress in Europe - Daugavpils fortress, its architecture and integration into Daugavpils landscape.
In the area of Daugavpils fortress, students had the opportunity to visit the Mark Rootko Art Center and learn about the artist's life and beauty. When you talked about this excellent personality and showing the art, the guide also involved students in the dialogue. Students participated in the appraisal of the painting, referred to the names, answered questions, obtained information. The art centre had an opportunity not only to get acquainted with the beauty of the Mark Rootko, but also with contemporary art. The interest and responsiveness of the pupils was great.
The primary school students in Daugavpils visited the science centre ZINOO, which had the opportunity to look at and test all the scientific achievements offered in the centre.
The students engaged with great interest in the activities offered, with enthusiasm and curiosity in the centre's premises.
Students participated in the lesson “earthquake”, during which children were creative in groups, forming a house from the materials offered (cottages, adhesive tape, cardboard).
At the school, a representative of “other Riga” was visited, who invited students of classes 1-6 to participate in a large-scale play on Latvia. The game in an exciting way made it possible to explore new facts about the cultural, history and natural wealth of our country, to look at Latvia from another point of view. The game developed the attention of students, thinking and memory, and collaborative skills. Students had the opportunity to create their own creative work using cards about Latvia.
Students very much liked to know interesting facts about different locations in Latvia, liked to be active.
Thanks to the pilot project “Latvian School Finish”, students had the opportunity to attend theatre shows. The primary pupils visited the exhibition “eight at the ark” offered by the Cultural House of Rezekne. The play reflects the Bible text on Noah's Ark and floods, showing people's relationships. The show made students wonder if they could do something for their friends to save their lives.
High school students attended the poetry and music cabin of the national association cultural house Theatre Joriks. Live ”.
During the show's poetry, the pupils had the opportunity to get to know the poetry of Weidenbaum. A separate reading of the reading is dedicated to the poetry of Latvian freedom struggles, showing its strength by promoting patriotism. The reading cycle for young people in today's topics prompted reflection.
We will be happy to use the opportunities offered by the pilot project “Latvian School Finish”.
