Education

On 18 September, THE 6 th grade school students of THE Audriņu primary school went TO the study forest expedition organised by Latvian State Forests on the Rēzekne municipality.
Pupils learned how the knowledge acquired at school could be used in daily life, aware of the human impact on the forest ecosystem, carried out practical and creative tasks, formed an understanding of the preservation of forests for future generations.
We went to the forest for a specific route of 2 km, moving from one stop to another. In each stop, the manager gave us practical or creative tasks that we dealt with individually or in groups, and we wrote the results in special workbooks that were distributed to each pupil at the beginning of the route.
In one of the stops, pupils learned that a lot of different things could be prepared from wood products, even in soap bubbles there is a particle of wood, as well as a drug - aspirin has a relation to the tree. At work stops the pupils measured the height of the tree and determined their age, calculated the required amount of trees in a 1 ha forest area so that the forest could recover himself.
It was necessary to carry out experiments with lactose papers in determining the acidity level of soil samples. There was information about the generation of young generations, after which the pupils went to clean the young grove from the funeral. The pupils knew perfectly what had caused different damage to the tree, whether it was an animal, a natural phenomenon, or a insect. In the last stop, the pupils, their own forces, from the wooden boards without the help of nails, all together, built the self-sustaining Leonardo da Vinci bridge and went over to make sure that it was resilient and could be placed on a finish stop with a fire and picnic.
Thanks TO representatives of the Latvian State Forest for the opportunity offered!
