Education

In time from this year On July 20 to July 24, 24 children took part in a children's day camp “5 days in my summer.” The camp base was Dricānu secondary school. The camp was organized BY Dricānu cultural association AUSEKLIS, but was funded by the foundation “ABLV Charitable Foundation”. It was founded in 2006 to promote business responsibility for society and the environment. One of the support areas of the ABLV Charitable Foundation is the “Help to grow” programme, which provides support for children's camps in Latvia. The co-financing of the project was composed OF Dricānu parish administration property and services, as well as voluntary work of the camp leaders.
The camp logo – an open palm – represented five days spent in camp, where each day the camp participants were involved in various activities. During the camp, the children made a dream boat from the natural materials. The boat mast was roasted with “sensation butterflies”, which they painted every morning, assessing the experience of the previous day.
The activities were so different that every member of the camp found the use of their skills, learning new skills. For example, the camp tumors were surprised by the kindness of boys to act with pearls, forming a friendship bracelet. The people say that men are the best cooks and seamers. We also saw this in the culinary afternoon when the pancakes on the live fire. The musical skills of children on battles, xilophoons, poles, turnips, and other instruments, while visiting the museum of the Gunar Estonian museum in Gaigalava, were a pleasant moments.
An active time was spent at the centre of the development of water at THE BEACON, playing a volleyball and tennis, or simply climbing a spiral staircase in THE BEACONS. The trip to the Castle of Cacaravia expanded into a great adventure: collection, determination of different plants, the diversity of their applications, the measurement of parish fat, determination of tree length, etc.
When the weather did not seem favourable to the outdoor activity, the children drew, adhesive, painted, worked with plastic, they did and played checkers.
On the last day of the camp, receiving certificates of participation in camp and fund gifts, the participants of the camp claimed that five days had passed so quickly that they would be willing to work together for another week. This is already a positive assessment of the camp team and the fact that the objective of this project – to contribute to the raising and education of low-income families – was achieved.
Thank the camp volunteers Sandra Saulette, Inese Bolshia, Marinai Ivanov for creative and responsible work, Vērēmu parish administration for understanding and operational and transport security, z/s “Krosle” for the provision of ideal catering services.
