Dricānu young people learn media literacy

THE Dricānu youth association “LOBS”, together with Dricānu, participated in the video competition “full idea”. It is a new initiative for the 10 th – 12 th classes of Latvia and their teachers in promoting media literacy in order to respond jointly to various questions regarding topical journalism in Latvia and the world. This project is managed by the Baltic Centre of Excellence with financial support from the British Council. A total of 15 studies from different schools in Latvia were sent. All participants in the competition were invited to a celebration event at the Latvian National Library on 19 May. A TEAM of Dricānu youth teams and their supporters were also invited.
From Dricānu young people also participated in primary school pupils. Young people created a high-quality and interesting video for their topic-urban environment and infrastructure in Dricans. The video of the youth video created in the video activities was among the ten best work authors and received a prize – participation in the workshops conducted by Latvian television, Latvian radio or portal LSM journalists in these media editions. It should be added that this is not all, Dricānu young people received a special prize between all participants - participation in the international media camp “Young Media sharks” in Kuldīga, which will be chaired by professional journalists, producers, executive producers from Latvia, America, Estonia and Ukraine.
