On Friday, September 13, until Sunday, September 15, the European Heritage Days in the Catholic Friends of Rome were celebrated. These were dedicated to the restored altar painting of the Catholic Catholic Church, “Christ at the Cross,” one of the first renovated paintings in Latgale (restored from 1994 until 1997). The restoration works were performed by Dzintra Temerova, Zita Sokolova, Inese root.
The activity programme was indeed diverse, focusing on events that are not available to the local community on a daily basis. For example, Professor Henrich's bag from Daugavpils University had helped to look at the 197 kg album, “Terra Mariana 1186-1888”, for facsimile work, which was given to Pope Leonam XIII Vatican in 1888. Following the order of the National Library of Latvia, the facsimile costs of the reduced size album were also made. As the author of the album is Gustav Manteifel, one of them is given TO the Church OF Dricānu. The professor also discussed the subject, which is an inheritance.
Anna Babre looked at her memories of the renovation of the altar painting “Christ at the Cross.” The attendants knew that the painting had been financed not only BY THE CKF, but a large amount of money (also personal) had been invested by Dean Paul Zeile, who had also served in the Pilcenes church at that time.
Laconic with the history of Pilcene Church was presented by the head of the Vladislava loch Latvian museum, Peter Lōz. It can only be mentioned if the Castle of Pilcenes was now found in the Museum of Freedom as a promise of last year's 70 s. This church was to be demolished and transported, but it failed because the accountant living in exile, the cultural employee Vladislav Lōcis, intervened.
One of the guiding principles of the 2019 European Heritage Days was to involve children and young people, so that Jaunjjan and Dricānu school pupils visited Pilcenes church in the course of their journey, listened to historical stories and engaged in creative workshops.
Not only the sacred heritage was raised in honour, but also the intangible - spirit and the values of music, including the musical heritage left by the Emperor and Composer Onton Matveyan. The women's choir “Townadze” and the folklore set “Bolta vīšņa” (conductor Erik Chudars), Dricānu CN women's vocabulary “Almus” (Head Janis Velicko), Sherjan CN women's Advocate General “Sidrabrasa” (leader Lāsma Inkina), “Dricānu dominante” under Andra Eriņa, as well as solicitors, Aija Eriņa's memorial competition winners, Ralph Bokta and Arnita Mazure.
As a seniore said, an active god said that such beautiful festivals in the Castle of Pilcene had not been seen, and perhaps because of their dignified age, they would never be alive. It is delighted that the celebrations of the festival in Pilcene Church are both the congregation of the parish Maris Laureckis and the organisers, participants and visitors of the event.
