Projects

More than 161 000 young people aged 18-30 have already applied in the housing and this initiative has changed the lives of many people. Most of the activities financed provide opportunities for volunteering in individual or teams. However, young people are also offered traineeships and job opportunities. In addition, young people can create their own solidarity projects in which they propose, develop and take action to promote positive changes in their community, and at the same time also have the opportunity to live abroad and learn valuable skills.
Inclusion in European Solidarity Corps projects is one of the most topical themes, but it is not the only guide. Other project topics include youth work, climate change, Community development, citizenship, education and culture. In the coming months and years, it is expected that tens of thousands of new opportunities will be created in these areas. In addition, the activities financed by each third of the European Solidarity Corps are intended for participants with reduced prospects facing obstacles such as disability, learning difficulties or economic, social or geographical obstacles.
For example, in Latvia, a project called “special place for special people” contributes to the integration of young people with disabilities into the labour market by employing them in a social enterprise cafe in Riga and involving them in all activities of the company. In Greece, volunteers contribute to the protection of forest in Csilocaster and Dervens, in the light of the planting and planting of trees and the maintenance of forest trails. On the other hand, in Sweden, through the “climate understanding” project, volunteers learn about climate change and biodiversity by helping to work on organic garden and ecovillage and by participating in awareness-raising activities. As an example, the project “Solidarity Coffee” created by the five youth-disabled people of Lithuania, through which they gained new friendship and created personal links with a wider range of people, can be mentioned as an example of volunteering.
