For young people

On 15 February, a student career education event “shadow day” took place in the municipality of Rezekne. Young people were given the opportunity to observe the daily and their responsibilities of local government employees. Today, two “shadows” met the work of the youth affairs specialist of the municipality of Rezekne, Jānis Šaudiņš. One of the young people represented Nautrēnu secondary school, while the other was the secondary school of Eastern Latvia.

Knowing the day-to-day duties of the employee, the young people admitted that they would be willing to work as a youth case specialists, as well as consider it an interesting work. One of Rezekne's municipality youth affairs specialist Janis Šaudiņa “shadows” - Santa Latisheva Chudare said: “I would certainly like to work as a youth case specialists. I'm doing something like this now - I'm a youth organizer in Lendes. I believe that the“ shadow day ”is a useful and necessary measure, so i will also participate in the second year. In my view, it is a great opportunity to feel the“ skin ”of a professor's representative, to understand the nuances of work, and to learn a lot of new ones. Similarly, the other“ shadow ”Victoria Adijāne also thinks:“ this kind of action gives young people the opportunity to meet the profession much closer, so it can be ascertained whether you want to associate your future with the chosen speciality ”. As part of the event, young people were not only aware of their day-to-day duties, but also engaged in the working process, as well as getting answers to questions of interest to themselves.

It is important to emphasise that the “shadow day” is a recognised and recognised career education programme for Junior Achievement in classes 1-12, during which students attend a workplace and observe the work day of the representative of the professions of interest in 4-6 hours. The purpose of “shadow day” is to introduce students with the responsibilities of different professions to help young people understand their essence and choose their future profession.
