Before the flooding of Poopolu, before the fighting songs, there is a moment of time for pupils, the school vacation. Teachers use the opportunity to improve their professional skills at this time. On 11 March, a professional development programme “Multilateralism to promote the motivation of pupils' learning” was carried out at Kaunatas High School, during which teachers shared the experience gained, which in 2018/19. The Erasmus + project (number: 2018-1-LV01-046823) was acquired abroad.
In October 2018, the English-language teacher Marina Atiechenkova visited courses in the Portuguese Capital of Culture in Lisbon “promoting creativity and innovation”. The use of future-class teaching methodologies and mobile devices'. By sharing experience with colleagues, she could not only introduce the content of courses, but also share her experiences, which she has already introduced in her own hours, such as the use of the Kahoot game in English. Similarly, the teacher Marina also told her about the future-class laboratory, which is currently being implemented in Lisbon. Tasks in this class are implemented by telephone and tablet computer.
In February 2019, Deputy Director-General and English-language teacher Anita Klismete visited courses in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana “positive psychology for every teacher, positive learning benefits.” By engaging teachers in practical exercises, she managed to pass on the most important lessons of the training. The teacher Clismete also shared the experience of using the skills acquired in English-language hours, as well as the positive psychology techniques.
At present, many schools have topical legorobotics, Kaunatas in high school for several years, pupils around themselves are gathering mathematics and informatics teacher Evita Cairiša, who went to the Cypriot capital Nicosia that year to obtain new insights on the acquisition of this area. She attended courses “robotics and STEAM Education”, during which she shared her experience and received much valuable insight from foreign colleagues. The course highlighted the fact that the technologies are developing differently in different countries, but the passion of children does not differ, so that the teacher must try to keep up with innovation so that students can motivate them.
In March, Teacher Inara Paramonova took part in courses “kouchings to prevent early school leaving” in the Italian capital of Rome, where he returned with various methods and the latest trend report in the pedagogy. Colleagues could not only try THE GROW model, THE 4MAT model, but also get acquainted with the review of J.Hatti's famous book “visible learning”. While meeting in Rome with foreign colleagues, the teacher Paramonova also participated in a discussion on the role of parents in building the motivation of pupils, on the benefits of cooperative learning.
Both during training and thereafter, teachers discussed different issues and shared their experiences, in their success stories. Such international experience does not only allow experience to be gained in the wider arena but also provides a deeper understanding of the diversity of the opportunities for addressing pedagogical issues.
