Gaigalavas parish Sherjan village name will not be changed

ON 17 April, ON 17 April, a public consultation meeting on the possible change in the name of the Rēzekne municipality to Vecjjani was held at THE National Activity Centre of THE Shergana village in Sherjan School. 29 residents had arrived at the meeting. The meeting was held by the President of the municipality of Rezekne IN Monvīds Švarcs and Gaigalavas parish administration manager p.i. Valentine Puste.
After hearing the opinion and based on the survey data of the population, THE President OF the municipality of Rēzekne, Monvīds Švarcs, confirmed that there was no justification for the Rēzekne District Council to consider the question of the change of the name of Sherjan village.
On 16 March 2018, the Rēzekne municipality council received a submission of Gaigalavas parish council members Peter Namsona and Jolantas Mikhailova (registration No. 3.2 ./35) with a proposal to examine the question of the legal legality of THE Sherjan village name OF Gaigalavas parish.
A public consultation on the possible change of the Rēzekne municipality'S Gaigalavas parish name to Vecjjani village was established between 17 March and 17 April 2018. The announcement of public consultation was placed on the website of the www.rezeknesnovads.lv of Rezekne and placed on the report stands AT Gaigalavas parish administration, the Sherjan village and the public activity centre “Sherjan School”.
At the time of the public consultation, 50 questionnaires were received: Gaigalavas parish administration received two questionnaires and 33 questionnaires from the Sherjan village population were received at the Centre for Activities of Sturgans, 35 in which the change of the name of Sherjan village to Vecjjani was rejected.
The main reasons for the point of view:
1) to retain the historical village “Shergani”;
2) do not wish to change the address;
3) Historically, the name of the village of Strūžānu is from 17.gs. if the name is to be changed, it is to be done by Jaunjjani.
During the public consultation, a TOTAL of five questionnaires and ten questionnaires from the Sherjan village population, 15 questionnaires, and 15 questionnaires, with support for the change of the name of the Rēzekne village OF Sherjan village to Vecjjani, have been received in Gaigalavas parish administration.
The main reasons for the point of view:
1) the same village name is adjacent;
2) there are often misunderstandings to find the village, as the same name of the village is adjacent;
The population was informed that the lawful use of the Sherjani village name was in accordance with the Council Decision of 3 July 2001 (Protocol No 7, § VII.) “For the names of villages and settlements”, which confirms the name of the village “FOUNTAINS” (classifier code 100207306) located AT Gaigalavas parish, Rēzekne municipality. The information is publicly available and can be found on the www.kadastrs.lv website and the name of the village “Sherjani” remains valid.
