Gaigalavas and Rikavas students participate in Latvian school youth improvisation theatre and theatre sports festival Sigulda

This year, the theatre sport in Latvia is 20 years. The Latvian School Youth Improvisation Theatre and Theatre Sport Festival, which also took part in 18 Gaigalavas primary schools and unit Rikavas primary schools, took place in Sigulda, arts school “white flickel”, on the honour of this significant number from 28 to 30 June.
The acquisition of an improvisation theatre and its form - theatre sport - includes a complex of knowledge that improves communication skills, develops spontancy, creativity and ability to respond quickly in non-standard situations, look at any situation through a humor prism, improve public speaking and speech skills. Theatre sports techniques develop team work and collaboration skills, teach them to do so to help the stage partner. The improvisation theatre and theatre sports game are based on a masterly-developed game technique. In order to develop it, training is necessary, as well as various techniques and methods, which in the three-day period of 200 pupils from across the country had the opportunity to acquire Latvian and foreign experts in masters classes. Among the participants in the masterpieces were the pupils of our two schools. Gaigalavas team: Alice Jared, Evelyn Spitch, Samantha root, Walter Pauls grain, Nauris Birze, Ivars Schwarz, Kaspars Rudzusieks, Dainis Rutulas, Roland Stanka, Imants Spīch.
Rikavas team: Annie Chaeire, Diana Dimension, Dace Vilcāne, Valerijs Decter, Inese Gugāne, Eric Dimzulis, Viacheslav Suharev, Andris Kukarels.
The masterclass students improved, supplemented and perfected both their improvisation theatre games, and also learned a variety of stage art and life-useful skills: the creation and movement of the stage environment, the stage fight, the pantomime, the stories (Story Telling) skills etc. The masters were accompanied by experience-rich improvisers and actors: Valmieras drama theatre actor Karlis Neimanis, director, actor and art theatre artistic manager Varis listener, radio DJ and improvisation theatre expert Kaspars Breidaks, horeograph, play night laureate Liene Grava, British director Anna Malzy, and Vanessa Hammick, etc.
The main idea of masters was to learn how to do it. And we did a lot! Three days passed, the masters changed each other, interacting with the excursion of Sigulda's familiarisation, or “embarrassing in the open nature” and the ghost hours of the nightmare in the ancient of the Gauja, as well as the commander's struggles where our Diana struggled with a gift card in the adventure park “Tarzans” in a long and intense struggle.
And even though the weather had led us to the sun, but in my heart we had a brightness, a joy, a joy, because the laughter in these days was much and often, and we look forward to the autumn when we can improvise again, play the theatre sport.
