At the meeting of the population, Luznava is informed of the transfer of a complex of technical buildings to the military.

On 27 December, a meeting of residents took place in Luznava, where local residents were informed of the plans of the National Armed Forces (NBS) to take over the property owned by the municipality of Rezekne - a complex of Luznava technical buildings. The military base of the National Armed Forces will be established in the technical area.
When speaking to the parish population, Lukznava parish head of administration p.i. Edgar Blinov said, “The municipality of Rezekne is very pleased that the solution for the building complex is finally found. The Army has assessed several objects in both Gulbene and New aglona, but Lucas is lucky because NBS's military base will be here.”
National Guard (ZS) 3. The commander of Latgale Brig-Gen, Colonel Maris Simson, told the army plans regarding Luznava: “The military base of the National Armed Forces in Luznava will be dispersed in Latgale the first professional service soldier unit that will strengthen the security of the region. There will be administrative premises, sports complex, garnisone service hotel and apartments, canteens, curricula, and premises for national defence training. The development of the unit and infrastructure is foreseen between 2018 and 2023, but the first soldiers could arrive here in March of the following year. These soldiers are currently living in Rezekne, but just as the premises are arranged, they will begin moving to Luznavu. In total, there might be around 600 soldiers in the battalion, its complexation still continues. It is an opportunity for Latgale people, who are currently working abroad, to go to Latvia and also apply for service TO NBS.
Luznava is selected because there is already a ready-to-use infrastructure here. The performances of the local government and the population are several - the school complex has been found, the buildings will not be empty but will be managed, there will be a base site for the students of Rezekne's municipality in the course of national protection training hours and final tests, new jobs will be created, which will certainly be eligible for the residents of Lucas. Predictable population growth, as soldiers move here with families. Improving the social and economic situation, as the children of soldiers will visit schools and kindergartens, educational institutions of interest. Of course, it will be possible to develop local business because soldiers and their families will need to buy and receive services. '
The local population was interested in whether there would be a fence around the military base, or there would be no machinery that could damage local roads and, of course, whether the daily running of the local population would be disturbed.
National Guard 3. The Latgale Brigadier chaplain, Lieutenant Rinald Brock, called on people to think more broadly: “Don't just think about your convenience, that you'll have to measure a little further to get to your favorite funeral.” There are very many villages in Latvia who disappear from the map because there are no more people. The buildings remain, but there are no people. There is vice versa - people, new families, and the village will develop. Think about people who will have a job. We can say about Luznavu that life is coming back. '
