Elected Members of the Rēzekne District Council

On Saturday, June 3, elections were held in Latvia. In the municipality of Rezekne, 8513 or 38.35 percent took part in the municipal elections from 22198. Compared to previous municipal elections, the population activity of Rezekne municipality has been slightly higher in these municipal elections – 37.371 TP1T population participated in the elections in 2013. It should be noted that 723 395 or 50.10 percent took part in Latvia as a whole from 1 443 801.

In total, 27 polling stations worked in the municipality of Rezekne. The highest activity was in Nagles, where 58.21 percent of the population had voted, Feimaņu parish, where the turnout was 55.07 percent and Rikavas parish – 48.59 percent.

The laws and regulations prescribe that there are 17 seats in the council of Rezekne. The preliminary results of the elections show that five political forces will be working in the Rēzekne municipality in the next four years:

  • “Coordination” of the Social Democratic Party (6 seats),
  • association LATGALE PARTY, national association “all Latvia!” – “For the Land and Freedom/LNNK”, party “UNITY” (5 places),
  • Union of Greens and Farmers (3 places),
  • political party “Alternative” (2 places),
  • Association of regions of Latvia (1 seat).

The Commission reports that, on the basis of the report on the calculation of the results of the election of the Rēzekne municipality of 3 June 2017, the Commission of Rezekne shall elect:

  • Monvīds Švarcs, LATGALE PARTY, national association “all Latvia!” – “For the Land and Freedom/LNNK”, party “UNITY”, 4170 voices;
  • Elman Pizane, “harmony” Socialist Democratic Party, 3368 voices;
  • Aivars Buharin, “harmony” Socialist Democratic Party, 2857 voices;
  • Regina Baranova, “harmony” Socialist Democratic Party, 2857 voices;
  • Normunds Zušs, LATGALE PARTY, national association “all Latvia!” – “For the Land and Freedom/LNNK”, party “UNITY”, 2787 voices;
  • Vilis Deksnis, LATGALE PARTY, national association “all Latvia!” – “For the Land and Freedom/LNNK”, party “UNITY”, 2784 voices;
  • Zigfred Lukasevich, “harmony” Socialist Democratic Party, 2762 votes;
  • Vasily Bashmakov, “harmony” Socialist Democratic Party, 2689 voices;
  • Viktor Scherbacov, “harmony” Socialist Democratic Party, 2676 votes;
  • Anita Ludborja, LATGALE PARTY, national association “all Latvia!” – “For the Land and Freedom/LNNK”, party “UNITY”, 2659 votes;
  • Ērika Teirumnieka, LATGALE PARTY, national association “all Latvia!” – “For the Land and Freedom/LNNK”, party “UNITY”, 2630 voices;
  • Stanislav Skesters, the Union of Greens and Farmers, 1435 votes;
  • Pavel Black, the Union of Greens and Farmers, 1432 votes;
  • Peteris Stanka, the Union of Greens and Farmers, 1407 voices;
  • Guntis Rasim, the association of regions of Latvia, 978 votes;
  • Igor Colosov, the political party “Alternative”, 934 votes;
  • Friedis Zenchenko, the political party “Alternative”, 821 voices.

The leaders of the elected lists – Elman Pizane, Monvīds Švarcs, Stanislav Skesters, Igors Kolosov and Guntis Rasims – agreed to maintain the previous model of cooperation and on 15 June, when the first meeting of the new parliamentary term was held, the President would be directing the former head of the council Monweed Schwarz and the deputy – Elhusband Pizani. There has also been an agreement on the areas of responsibility for the work of the Standing Committee on Permanent Questions.
