A youth project implemented in Ilzeskalne “is not as good as at home …”

05.07.2016

For young people

From 1-30 June, a project “nowhere is not as good as at home …” was implemented under the national budget funding of THE Ministry of Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science for 2016. The project enabled Ilzeskalna young people to learn much more and to supplement existing knowledge of their parish.
At the end of the project it was intended to create an informative photo story and a video story of Ilzeskalna parish from history to today. To create these stories, we had to learn not only how to properly capture and process photos and videos, to obtain and collect information, but also to be more aware of their sense of belonging to the parish and the place of birth. The project financed things that were not yet available IN Ilzeskalna youth center - printer, camera, portable computer, whiteboard and stationery, which were useful in the training process and helped to better implement the project.
At the beginning of the project, photo and video training was “viewed through objective..”, directed by Artis Vītols. In training, we learned a variety of stops that help you take qualitative and obvious photos of how to film a video so that it is not boring, and many other things that were useful in practice.
We took part IN Ilzeskalna youth-led seminar-discussion “I and my sense of belonging.” We discussed how we understand what patriotism, citizenship, the sense of belonging, how much opportunities for young people are to live and work in their own parish and country. We found that young people, after obtaining education, wished to return and remain living IN THE parish OF Ilzeskalna. They see prospects and free niche for their business, inherit their parents' work, or work that is near their home. On the basis of the lessons learnt in the seminar, we created a video for Latvia for hundreds of years.
In order to obtain information for the creation of the photo and video story, we went into the cycling expedition “Ilzeskalna parish in the contemporary era.” At the time of the expedition, we found that the school in Ilzeskalns (then Ilzenberg) was the first school in Rēzekne District and the second senior school in Latgale. We also visited other Ilzeskalna parish schools, significant personal homes, memorial places, cultural historical sites, and all the expeditions enjoyed the wonderful landscape of the parish. At each checkpoint where we stopped, we were met by creative tasks relating to the place where we had arrived. Every next checkpoint should also be found on their own when performing a task with instructions. At the end of the project, the young people admitted that the cycling expedition was the most interesting project event, as it is easier to perceive information when you visit and see your eyes. Much more could be found when performing checklist tasks. Creative work attracted both the smaller and larger project participants.
The information obtained in the cycling expedition was supplemented by history materials from museum and private archives and interviews with the population OF the older generation OF Ilzeskalna. By collecting and processing information, young people created a photo and video story “is not as good as home...” for THE parish OF Ilzeskalna. A presentation of works took place on the last day of the project. A special joy and excitement were about a video story that moved the viewers to the tears of joy.
The created photo and video stories not only included more opportunities for young people to know their parish, but there was also excellent experience in the media. We look at our parish every day, but every next day is different from previous, every time we can see something else. The project was the place where every young man made a particle of himself, what he saw when he looked at Ilzeshill.
Four photo-story tablets and video stories are evidence of our work at the time of the project, they can be used in various parish events as historical material.
Thanks to everyone who helped to realize the project, special thanks to the knowledgeable and attractive training managers – Artim willow, Mother Gailumei, Anne Viaver, the energy project manager Welgai Lāce, THE Ilzeskalna parish administration and the co-operation partners – the municipality of Rezekne and the sports club “Magnen”.
Elvita Kotane,
