For young people

Ilzeskalna parish young people are very active – both by participating in events organised by other parish and by organising various types of activities IN THE parish OF Ilzeskalna. Therefore, with his activities over several years, THE young people of Ilzeskalna won the first place in the nomination of the Rēzekne municipality's education management competition “Rēzekne Municipality Youth Annual Prize 2016” “the most active youth civil parish” and won the main prize – a trip to the European Parliament in Brussels.
In the period from 23-26 October, the 10 most active young people OF Ilzeskalna parish, the head of the youth centre “Iļžukolna Jaunatne”, our propulsion power in Welga Lāce and the Rēzekne municipality's youth affairs specialist, Jānis Šaudiņš, was born.
When we arrived in Brussels, we went to the European Parliament for the first time. Dagnija, the advisor of Karina Karina, who held a small excursion along the European Parliament's building, was waiting for us there, during which we found interesting facts about both the organisation itself and the role of Latvia in it. When we visited the European Parliament, we learned that one of the corridors of the European Parliament was named for the Baltic Road, and the initiative of the Members of Latvia in this corridor has created a symbolic memorial plate for the Baltic Road. Dagnia also spoke of the most important decisions and suggestions made by Latvian parliamentarians, as well as the working day of the tense Members.
Following the visit of the European Parliament, we went to an excursion by the city of Brussels, presenting its architecture and cultural monuments, visiting the “Atomium” sculptural design, the “mini Europe” park. In these days we met the Belgian medieval city Brigi, with a well-preserved historic centre and small canals, along which we went on a trip to expand our vision of the city landscape. On the Briges channel, we found an interesting fact that the property tax in this city was dependent on the number of windows in buildings, the less the window house, because it had to pay less property tax, so that it would often be possible to see the frames of the windows.
Ilzeskalna young people are happy and grateful for the opportunity. Thanks to John, who organized an adventure and an impressive wonderful journey, Rezekne's council on financial support, the head of the youth centre, for work with Ilzeskalna youth, Ilzeskalna parish head of administration and driver.
