Projects

By approaching the centuries of Latvia, the European Parliament's Member, Inese Vaidere, launches a competition for the 10 th-12 th grade students “100 History moments in the municipality – places and people”, which aims to identify and collect stories that reveal the “unwritten history” of their hometown. The winners of the competition will have the opportunity to travel to Brussels and visit the European Parliament's Member, Inese Vaidere, and the authors of the best works will receive promotion prizes.
In the context of the competition, students are given the task of listening to parents, grandparents, relatives, neighbors and anyone who can help with the gathering of information, find out and collect stories about their hometown - home, street, city - history and how different events have affected the fate or day of the people. Special attention to pupils is encouraged to focus on the lives and specificities of ordinary people in a given time period. The form in which you can tell your native surroundings and co-workers is in the same way of each participant in the competition – this may be a description, video film, presentation, poster, or something else.
Participation in the competition may serve as the main activity of school project weeks, and well-designed works will enrich the list of materials and exhibits of local schools, city museums and municipality research centres.
The competition will be held from 18 November 2017 to 18 March 2018 and shall be submitted on that date by sending them to e-mail: inese.vaidere-office@europarl.europa.eu. In turn by March 26, 2018, the jury will determine at least 10 best works and their authors will be invited to the final event in Riga. The list of finalists will be published on the website of mep Inese Vaideres http://www.inese-vaidere.lv/ under News.
