Announcement of the “NGO Foundation” competition

The Society Integration Fund shall announce open project submission competitions for projects to be implemented in 2018 within the framework of the programme “NGO Foundation” financed by the State budget of Latvia. The aim of the programme is to promote citizens' participation and cooperation in public processes, improve the quality of life of citizens and strengthen democracy and the sustainable development of civil society in Latvia, financially supporting civil society activities, ensuring democratic state governance and the involvement of the wider community in addressing important issues of public interest, thereby ensuring the adoption of quality and public-interest decisions and the provision of services.
Within the framework of the programme, projects are planned to support projects in two directions:
- “strengthening THE activities OF NGOs” — objective: strengthening organised civil society and supporting NGOs, strengthening THE institutional and human capacity of NGOs and providing financial support for regular and long-term participation OF NGOs in the decision-making process of the public administration and participation in the planning, implementation and monitoring of public administration policies;
- “Strengthening THE protection of THE interests of NGOs” – the objective of supporting NGOs performing the activities of defence of interests at national level and implementing participatory activities in policy-making and implementation processes, contributing to the development of civil society in Latvia.
Priority areas:
- civil society development: civic participation and public involvement in the work of non-governmental organisations;
- promoting voluntary activities and charity initiatives.
Each applicant for a project application may submit only one project application in a competition.
The total funding available for projects under the 2018 competition is EUR 385 696.38.
The project application may be submitted by a association or foundation registered in the Republic of Latvia which complies with the requirements laid down in the Law on associations and foundations and the following conditions:
1) it operates in the field of civil society development;
2) it operates in society in solving major problems, in the interest of the wider public, in achieving public objectives, promoting the participation of the public;
3) it does not operate solely in his or her own interests or in the commercial, professional or political interests of his or her members, the purpose of which is to act for the benefit of the wider society, addressing issues related to the well-being of individual groups of residents or the whole society;
4) it has a specified organisational structure and a regulatory body has been established, operational reports are provided;
5) it is independent from public administration institutions, political parties or commercial organisations.
The Competition Regulation of the NGO Foundation and the project application form shall be available on the website of the Society Integration Fund on the Internet www.f.gov.lv.
The deadline for submission of project applications is 21 November 2017 (date of receipt in the society integration fund).
