From 4 to 7 September, the food industry exhibition “Riga Food 2014” was held for the 19 th time in Riga, Kipp_Islands exhibition hall, which gathering professionals and gardeners from around the world for the 19 th time. Riga Food 2014 is the largest food industry exhibition in Baltics, 682 companies from 37 countries have participated in it this year. The exhibition of all four Latvian regions also participates in the exhibition for the second year. The lead stalls gathered the most interested party, because they could feel and enjoy the taste and color of Latgale, Kurzeme, Vidzeme and Zemgale, meet and talk to craftsmen and domestic producers whose offer was so rich. This time, the Rēzekne municipality was represented by the March Igaune of berries and fruit vineyards from Nagļu parish with “Marta family wines”, Nautrēnu parish z/s “Berzubirzes” with unique garlic pesto and vasabi, wood-cutter Edgars Matisans of Sakstagala parish, and, of course, “Latgolys Gold”, who had already offered rye bread, fat and Latgale traditional shmakovka at the entrance to the Kippal hall. “Latgale joining!” – such was the slogan for the total Latgale stand, which also took part in the thematic villages with its attractive offer.
“The buyers come, they're going to be interested, then someone buys,” said M.Igaune. The attendance at the bench was free of charge, the traders themselves had to pay only travel and subsistence expenses. In such exhibitions, the biggest benefit is not as much profit as new contacts, friends, partners, here can get innovative ideas, find out the views of purchasers and get acquainted with developments in the Latvian food producer market, - this is also revealed by the survey of the previous year exhibition participants of the Latvian National Institute of Economics (LVAEI).
