Evaluation of THE APPLICATIONS for THE LEARN projects

In 2019, 17 business project applications were submitted to the project competition “Development of Rural Economy in Rēzekne District” (LEARN) “Support for the start and development of entrepreneurship in Rezekne municipality”. In order to assess the allocation of funding for the realization of entrepreneurial expectations, a project evaluation Commission was established in five people:

• Ineta Elksne, Executive Director of the Rēzekne District Communities Partnership,
• Skaidrīte Baltace, head of the Latvian Investment and Development Agency (LIAA) Rēzekne business incubator,
• Vita Pučka, THE head of THE “development finance institution ALTUM” Latgale region,
• Guntis Rasims, President of the Rēzekne District Council, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Education, Culture and Sport,
• Žanis Yko, owner of the beekeeping farm “Ships”.

The Commission adopted a decision to grant funding of eur 30 026,61 for the implementation of 11 project applications. Five of the beneficiaries will only start their economic activities, but six will develop existing business. Business ideas will be implemented IN Lendžu, Kantinieku, Ozolmuižas, Lūznavas, Bērzgales, Dricānu, Mākoņkalna and Audriņu parish. In turn, the development of sectors such as food production, sewing services, dog training services, catering services, and tourism and metalworking will be encouraged.
This is the fifth competitions organised BY THE LEARN Foundation for Rēzekne municipality. Establishment LEARN (for the development of the rural economy in Rezekne municipality) was established by the municipality of Rezekne and all 25 Rēzekne municipality parish administrations on 8 July 2014 with the aim of promoting business development and the activity of the population, promoting economic activity and ensuring the reduction of unemployment in the territory of Rezekne District.
