From August 28 to August 31, the first Baltic jazz festival “Skiun jazz” will be held at THE Rēzekne District, which aims to promote interest in jazz music, encourage the co-operation of emerging and existing jazz musicians, as well as masters, Jem sessions and concerts, with the participation of jazz musicians from all Baltic States, living jazz musicians in Latgale, the special Lūznavas estate complex environment.
The idea of a jazz festival AT Lūznavas in Manor began with a feeling of change – in September 2018, a jazz music division was formed in the High School of Rēzekne of Rēzekne, which was managed by jazz musician, composer Tom Lipsky. He also had the idea of creating a jazz festival at Luznava when he started his work in Latgale, taking the artistic leadership of the future festival. In the summer of 2018, AT THE END OF the Lūznavas “Kulturys škiuni”, there was a jazz festival concert “jazz” in two concert programmes. Presensation, highlighting the time and place of the festival. Unfortunately, in the autumn, Tom went prematurely, but by honouring his work and sending the festival to Tom Lipsk's memory, the first Baltic jazz festival “Skiun jazz”, which is “continuation!”, will be held at Lūznavas Manor from August 28 to August 31. The follow-up to the ideas of Tom, the continuation of jazz music, continued to transfer the knowledge of the experienced jazz musicians to the young. The festival's ideas and the beginning of the festival are determined by the artistic leader of the festival, the well-known trombonist Lauris Ainvs.
One of the festival's goals is to promote the growth and education of the emerging jazz musicians, so the festival will begin with the jazz masters, which have been invited by 24 emerging musicians in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Professional experience in musicians will be obtained in Vita Rusaitytes (LT) vocal class, Skirmanta Sasnauska (LT) in the class of thrombone and other puffed instruments, Indriatic Veitner (LV) in the saxophone class, Siim Aimla (EE) in saxophone class, Mikkel Padar (EE) in contrabasa class, Arkadia Gotesman (LT) in sitaminstrument class and Madara Kalniņa (LV) in the class of keyboard instruments.
Jazz music events in Luznava will be invited to survive. The festival will be started by the collaboration of jazz musicians in masterpieces, the results of which can be enjoyed every evening at Jem sessions, and a number of public festival concerts will be held on 30 and 31 August, with all the leaders of the jazz masterboard playing in the final concert with Rezekne bigger.
