The parish of Rezekne IS attractive with his beautiful nature - hills, valleys, lakes. As elsewhere in Latvian countryside, people are working on this side, copying fields. We are particularly pleased to see young people who have taken care of their land.
From THE CENTRE of THE Ilzeskalna parish centre in the direction of Rezekne, the attention of the passers is attracted by cleaned fields, a beautiful herd. The house, the surroundings of the house create a sense of stability and peace. There are two generations here. With his parents, he has a son, Arnis Zachester, who, in his immediate and further vicinity, is first known as a craftsman. The wood-processing Arnis has been working hard since the age of fifteen, but it is only in winter days. One of his works is an indication of the name of the holding. Arnis's work is assessed at the level of the municipality, where the competition “Rezekne Municipality 2015” in the nomination “year craftsman” is awarded the title of the laureate.
Arnis has inherited his work from his parents, where his mother is a big flower lover, a grower. Both parents appreciate the sense of order and duty. The works are not carried out spontaneously, unintentionally. An assessment of the expected result is assessed, only then the operation is initiated.
The idea of establishing a herd in Arnim occurred some time ago. With some of Charles's heifers, the calm, beautiful cattle were fond of them. In order to work seriously, the development, without investments, can be developed. As a good opportunity for the attraction of financial resources, the rural development programmes announced by the Rural Support Service for small farms have been announced. A business plan for the development of the livestock sector was developed and presented with the help of SIA “Latvian Centre for Rural Consultation and Education”. All planned activities have been performed. Purchased mower, water barrel, 3 breeding heifers. Such support is the basis for development for many farms.
The limitation of funds is the biggest problem for the development of small farms. That is why Arnis is pleased with the positive decision to approve the project. In order to ensure that farming is successful, no stage must be used in the production process. It is considered that farms with small areas can be disposed of without their own technical base, but this is misleading. Every moment in the preparation of the hay or the grain harvesting. The technique does not stand in the pond, the livestock farms do every day. Therefore, Arnis, the result of the first project, was encouraged to start the next rural support programme “support for investment in agricultural holdings”, resulting in a hay wrapper, a ditch and a fertilizer.
How would the farm be formed if such aid was not offered? It would be a survivor, no development. The growth of the economic indicators of the farm and the competitiveness of the farm in the market are not mentioned in the near future.
Currently there are 14 suckler cows with calves and heifers. Half of the herd has a hundred percent of Charoline's blood. The purpose of the holding is to increase the herd to 30 suckler cows. If there was an opportunity to expand the land area, the number of livestock could be higher. However, there is also an optimal limit for the size of the holding where the works can be accomplished by their own forces.
Nature is furious this year, as if putting farmers in a test of how hard we are. The consequences of natural disasters are, or each, a large or small land manager. Not easy, the main subject of daily negotiations is about the consequences of the rain. 'Arnis answers this question simply,' we are powerless in front of nature. No variant, continue to work. The wall is prepared enough. The main concern is the seed material for the following year. The volumes are based on the renovation of pastures, the improvement of the gold, the barley, the oats with the grass passage. The area is restricted, so it is necessary to think so that two mowers can be made.
Due to weather conditions, the works have been braked, but they must be allowed to be mowed, harvested, art. Construction of livestock shelters. It involves both cost and time-consuming. All works are performed by Arnis himself, patience and susceptibility.
Arnis finished the koktēlniecības department of the University of Rēzekne. In agriculture, there is a need for specific, sector-specific knowledge. Graduated training course in organic farming, obtained by a farmer's diploma, graduating from the Malnava college. Still Arnis can be proud of the knowledge acquired in the Rēzekne Technology Academy (Rezekne High School) in the fundamentals of the business economy. The diplomas received are not merely formality, they are evidence of the need for knowledge, the firmness of the character, the focus.
Maybe somebody seems to have a big, ten hectares of land, ten cattle! In this way, you can think if you don't know how to start hosting in the fields, how much investment must be done, what patience must be, until you can see the result of the work (especially in livestock farming). At present, it is not possible to start farming, even with great will. There is a need for land, money, knowledge. And you can love the job and the place where you live.
