In the New Year's Football tournament 1 st place is acquired by THE BJSS and Rezekne SEE “Progress” team of the United Rēzekne.
On 2-3 January, a New Year's Football tournament was held at the Rēzekne Border Guard College for women organised by the Rēzekne sports club “progress” in collaboration with the Rēzekne City and Rezekne's children-youth sports school. Women's football teams from Latvia and Lithuania were invited to participate in the tournament.
In 2001, 5 teams from the Rēzekne city (Rēzekne BJSS, optimist), Rezekne municipality (progress/Rezekne municipality BJSS) and Lithuania (Ukmerge I, II) took part in the group of girls and parents born in 2001.
According to the rules, the tournament took place in the football rules of the room, playing a circle system.
The final match for the third place was taken between the Rēzekne BJSS team and the Border Guard team “optimist”. With an unassigned score of 2: 2, a team match followed, followed by a series of beats. The Rēzekne BJSS team, with 3 accurate broadcasts, overtook the team “optimist”, whose football players performed 2 beats. As a result, the tournament table in Rezekne BJSS team 3.
The final and second place took place between the Lithuanian team “Ukmerge I” and the “progress” of the United Rēzekne sports club with the “Progress/Rezekne Municipality BJSS” team in Rezekne. The pinned game ended with a result of 0: 1. The victory won and 1 st place in the Football tournament of New Year was provided by the “progress/Rezekne District BJSS” team. On the other hand, the Lithuanian komandai “Ukmerge I” honoured 2 nd place.

The tournament's best player title won Anastasia Fiodorova, Laura Sondore (Progress/Rēzekne District (BJSS) Cynthia Strankale (Rēzekne BJSS), Christine Kudrjavceva (optimist), Emilia Kaselite (Ukmerge I), Vika Stundgite (Ukmerge II).
