Young people from different countries participate IN Sakstagala sports games

On August 20, Sakstagala parish was organized by sports games that have become a good tradition, but they went into international atmosphere this year. Sports games helped to organize young people from five European countries – France, Spain, Italy Portugal and Hungary, the European association “World-our Home” project “intercultural interaction, diversity and tolerance in Latgale”. The event was implemented with the support of THE LR Ministry of Culture and the “South Latgale NGO Support Centre”.
The aim of the project was to promote local public awareness of cultural diversity and promote tolerance and mutual understanding and to develop intercultural dialogue and cooperation between foreign youth and the people of Latgale. Two activities were organised within the framework of the project: intercultural sports games in the municipality of Rezekne IN Sakstagala parish, where YOUNG people from Portugal, France, Spain, Italy, Hungary, as well as the event at the Rēzekne pensioner social service centre, which invited Seniori of Rezekne, young people with disabilities and foreign young people to spend time in their cultural experience, took part in the Rēzekne pensioner social service centre.
This time, the time passed, the sports games went on a wonderful day, in which both children and young people and adults were able to enjoy athletic azarts and creativity in team games – football, volleyball and rope towling, individual games – basketball punishment, shooting gallery, relay children, and various foreign youth-prepared activities – debris workshop, Souvenir-building workshop, facial painting workshop, as well as zombs and petanka in the game.
THE residents of Sakstagala were active and tried their creative abilities in the formation of various Souvenirs, as well as active in the decoupling workshop where the tiles were composed of various works of art. The children had a great interest in painting the face.
The local population also showed interest in the petanka, a popular game of the Mediterranean, which had not yet been played by anyone. It has become a national sport in France, where the petanka players can be seen in almost every park and courtyard.
After the sports games, an international evening AT Sakstagala in the centre of public activity was organised, where the culture, traditions of the various countries, and the food and beverages of each country were presented. In the course of the evening, local young people, together with foreign youth, shared a evening in Youtras dance, sharing their cultural experiences, forming intercultural dialogue.
