Young junior primary school students continue to participate IN FIRST LEGO competitions
While acquiring new knowledge in THE FIELD OF LEGO Robotics and continuing to develop their skills, the members of the New Jerusalem primary school robotics took part in THE FIRST LEGO two-day competition in Estonia.
The new robotisti of the New Virgin School, Nautrēnu and Kaunatas High Schools were represented in Rēzekne province competitions. The team of Ludza and Preiles were also started. In total, twenty-six teams participated in the competition.
Arnolds Anufrijevs, Elgar Razgalis, Renars Rjachensky, Janet Pilka, Valeria McEyeva, and Janis Gabrāns participated IN all three elements of THE FIRST LEGO programme – robot play, project and basic values.
Three sets were held on the first day of competition, after which our girls had ranked in the seventh place, and the boys in the twelfth. As a result, the New Junior School of Basic School ranked in the middle of gold (15 th, 16 th).
The Nautrēnu secondary school team (leader Ivars igaunis) also achieved good success.
FIRST LEGO League is a fun and interesting way for young people to learn science and technology and to develop the necessary knowledge and skills. Latvian competition winners are given the opportunity to participate in the European Open Championship.
The programme is intended for pupils aged 9-16. A team (ranging from 2 to 10 pupils) with one accompanying teacher/trainer is required to participate IN FIRST LEGO League competitions. The program consists of three elements: a robot game, a project, and basic values.
The next round of competitions between the Rēzekne District Schools will be held on 24 March at the Cultural Cultural House and the New Jerusalem primary school sports hall. Information about the expected event is placed on the New Junior School website. It is already known that the event will expand much wider than originally planned, as many schools in Latgale region are joined by the competition.
