Jekaterina Smirnova – Latvia's 2019 champion-12-age group in chess

During the spring holidays of the pupils from 11-15 March 2019, 50 boys sat at the Riga Chess School at the chess gaming tables, while 65 girls were doing the same in the classic Gymnasium of Riga in order to find Latvian champions in 11 categories (5 boys and 6 girls) by 15 March, and distribute road signs to world and European championships. The girls' tournament took place after FIDE rules and Swiss systems, 7 cards, time control – 90 min. +30 sec. for each member until the end of the party. The G-12 group played 14 girls from Riga, Kuldīga, Jackabpils and Rezekne. The main cup and the Latvian champion title with 6 points in seven games was won by Jekaterina Smirnov (I. sports club, coach Anatolijs Jasinskis,), second place with 5,5 points won by Ieva Valeine (I. sports club, coach Janis Valeinis, Riga Chess School), and in 3 th place with 5 points remained Melanie Janson (I. sports club, coach vija Rožlapa, Riga Chess School). The best rating growth was reported by Jekaterina (1284) - plus 48,4 points.
