Feel stable on your ground

The municipality of Rezekne is operated BY one of the youngest felling companies, SIA Lindenwood, which was created by two energetic young people only a year ago. One of them, John Arbidan, is only 25 years old. The company produces a firewood, polished scales and wooden pallets, giving jobs around 10 local residents. All production is exported to European countries: Germany, Norway, Poland.
“At all, our basic occupation is related to agriculture, the production of beef, but we thought that it would be something to do in winter, even though people would be in the winter season. In January last year we started with one sip-fissile machine, set up our firm in July, built a production building. Here, there was nothing in this place, the trees grew. All this is done during the year,“ -- the Chairman of the Board OF SIA “Lindenwood” and one of the owners, John Arbidan.
There is a heavy van in the courtyard where the scalpels are stacked. First they will go to the Rēzekne, then the cargo will be sent to consumers in Norway. How did we manage to find a market abroad in such a short time? “If you want, you can find it.” Friends helped. '
The equipment is purchased at its own expense, making a reasonable contribution to the development of the company earned. With turnover, entrepreneurs are satisfied, the profits might be higher, because after the increase in wages and taxes, there is little to be left. The cost of production would be significantly reduced in the company on the site, so that, as Janis Arbidans acknowledges, a new project will be required.
One of the essential aspects of business development is the quality of the driveway. THE operation of Lindenwood is hampered by the transport of finished products through gravel roads, which are difficult to escape in autumn and spring. Now, now, the heavy-loaded van drifts slowly through the rutts of the road. On the motorway in the municipality, Madoļesje – Spruukti – Vishi – Assan gravel cover is out of date, no capital repair works have been performed for a long time, as is the neighbouring country road Rezekne -- Stoļerova - Kaunata. “It's still good now, but in the autumn and spring solvents to leave the production, each heavy machine had to be pulled out with a tractor,” – the businessman says. In addition, SIA Lindenwood is not the only company that uses that route, there are several companies, farm farms and Spruuktu HES. The municipality of Rezekne Municipality has included the “environmental protection and resource efficiency” of the priority axis “environmental protection and resource efficiency” of the operational programme “Growth and Employment” 3.3.1. “To increase the volume of private investment in national and regional centres by investing in key infrastructure of entrepreneurship, in accordance with the integrated development programmes of local governments” within the framework of Measure 3 “Investing in entrepreneurial activity in significant infrastructure outside national and regional centres of interest”, but it is not yet clear whether this programme will be supported at a national level.
Both John and his eldest brother Martin, who also works in the company, have taken up the occupation of the farm manager at Malnava College and praise that training institution, because all the lessons learned are truly useful in the day-to-day work.
