On the afternoon of 4 May, a festive event was held AT Kaunatas in the People's House on the day of restoration of the independence of the Republic of Latvia. It started with a joint singing of the national anthem. May 4 has given us a second breath, opening not only the boundaries but my eyes, hearts and minds. That is our freedom. That is the freedom to be celebrated.
Together with our Middleys, we made white tablecloths and celebrated festivals. Because big days have to be celebrated. The white colour of Latvians has been the most favourite, the symbol of perfection, purity and holiness. As the white sun is divided into seven rainbow colours, its white cloth are woven from seven threads, and only where they are twisted together is a real shining white.
The white tablecloth festival people create themselves, each one with their own respect, each adding their contribution to the table and shared conversations, bringing together a sense of festival. The white tableau festival reminds that the restoration of the independence of the Republic of Latvia - the second birthday of the country of Latvia - was the result of the persistent behaviour and courage of certain people. That was daring. The white tablecloth in these festivals is so that we meet together, share memories, be more friendly and more open.
Traditions are kā in the canvas of history and culture, which contains a message of time. Traditions are like a frame that covers a painting with a history snapshot and leaves it for the next generations. As well, the people OF Kaunatas parish, celebrating May 4, continued traditions to be passed on to future generations.
This year we were aware of ancient traditions, intangible, incl. culinary heritage and honour, finding new expressions of common values. The six people of Kaunatas parish shared their family's favorite meals, which have been transferred from generation to generation as a cultural heritage. Thank you very much for Nellie Vasilyeva, Anton Savickim, Irene Broliam, Giannah Ducalevich, Antonia Gayun, and Irene's profit for the participation and the promotion of her culinary heritage.
On May 4, it is the day we think of our freedom, for us, for our Latvia! These festivals in each of us made a commitment to be salted and responsive to Latvia's second birthday!
