Colourful, educational, saturated “nowel taste” final

With a two-day event at the weekend in Riga, the Latvian Rural Consultation and Education Centre (LLCC) event “county taste” has been concluded.
The first day of the event was given by the conference “put a food basket local!”. Its aim is to launch a discussion on how local, including organic, food products can be more widely used in nursing schools and kindergartens, how to promote greater involvement of local governments in this area and, to promote the farming of their own farmers, to ensure the necessary products. The positive experience of the “AmDaram” caterer, who has been providing organic products for children for more than a year. The conference analysed the culture of society as a whole, smoked ideas from chefs, how to prepare a longer lunch for pupils, or, as a small producer, to create relationships with supermarkets and to achieve greater visibility of their production through social networks.
Mārtiņš Cimermanis, Chairman of THE BOARD of LLCC: “a huge joy that local government procurement specialists and school representatives acknowledged useful information and also inspired something to change in the catering of their institutions. We therefore call on the municipalities to cooperate more closely in the integration of local products into school catering. Thank you very much for all the festival supporters. We will also meet again next year at the events of the county regions and the final festival in Riga!
The conference also presented a five-day meal for the Latvian best cheff, which every interested school cook will be able to receive. In the day of the day, the winners of the “People's flavour” competition held in five regional county events were also named, who receive an opportunity to go on an experience exchange trip to Sweden. On the other hand, the festival's second day in the Hanza platform was dedicated to the familiarisation of Kurzeme, Vidzeme, Latgale and Zemgale small producers, enthusiastic cook masters, visitor talks with owners, favorite musicians. In total, visitors and capital guests had the opportunity to explore more than 100 producers from around Latvia.
In the course of the day, every visitor was also able to vote for the best caterers who represented all the provinces. The new “Hot Cafe” from Saldus became the winner.
During a taste festival, anyone could also donate to the organization “big concern for small ones” providing nursing services for children of care institutions who are alone in the clinical hospital of children. In the course of the day and at the charitable auction, EUR 596.69 WERE donated to this day.
It is recalled that, within THE framework OF the “county taste” event organised BY LLCC, the festival festivals were held in Valmiera, Sigulda, at the Municipality Lake Kuldīga District, Ribbe mills in Bauska District and Kraslava. In total, more than 150 small producers participated in these activities and were visited by almost 4000 people.
Rēzekne and Viļānu were represented BY THE LPKS “Viļāni”, offering a range of dairy products, the association “Latgolys Gold”, Andris Vishnevskis “Obelisk Farm” and the coffee roaster “KUUP”.

Non-alcoholic beverages: Klawa Šlakocin, SIA Capulus Terra, Kuldīga municipality;
Catering company: Valmiera technicality.
