The European Parliament (EP) European Citizens' Prize has announced the 2018 Prize laureates from across the European Union (EU) - from Latvia it has been granted a “possible mission”.
The “possible mission” of the movement was raised by meps of the European People's Party (EPP) - Sandra Kalniete, Krišjannis Kariņš, Artis Pabriks and Inese Vaidere.

The European Citizens' Prize is a European-wide award awarded annually by the European Parliament to individuals, groups or organisations for outstanding achievements and contributions, promoting mutual understanding and cohesion OF EU citizens, promoting cross-border cooperation within THE EU, which strengthens the European spirit. The award is also awarded for day-to-day activities, which certify and consolidate Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union shared values: human dignity, freedom, equality and solidarity.

Ingrida Bloom, Chairman and founder of the “alleged mission” of the movement: “The possible mission over 10 years has shown that the educational system in Latvia can attract higher education graduates from Latvia and other countries. I'm sure our education will be as good as our teachers. Thank you for every member and supporter of a potential mission who truly believes that quality education is the key to Latvia's growth. On behalf of the Community, i also thank the European Parliament for its honour! '
Sandra Kalniete: In 1862, in “Petersburg newspapers”, Valdemar stressed that Latvians needed three things: first, schools, secondary schools, and third-class schools. And 156 years later, exactly the same three things are the basis of Latvian success – or decline. In the modern world, competitiveness means knowledge and excellence. “Possible mission” is an excellent initiative that brings the teacher's work prestige and places positive and qualitative changes in schools and society. “Possible mission” young people raise students' interest and motivation to learn, help grow to a knowledgeable, creative and enterprising generation who will be able to make Latvia a globally competitive country. “A possible mission”, like the mission of other non-governmental organisations, is not yet over, so i call on them to support them! ”
Chris Karins: “The teacher is often the next most important support to life after family members. How skilled in his trade is a teacher, so responsive to knowledge is a child or a young man, because the school is laying the foundations for a whole life. The“ possible mission ”, involving young people in the Latvian education system, has helped to raise the prestige of the pedagogical profession and strongly emphasized the value of education. The project receives this important prize at a difficult time, but i am convinced that the“ possible mission ”in Latvia needs to be continued and with all our support it will be possible. In order for the European Citizens' Prize to motivate further work and to achieve new goals in strengthening our children and young people, we want to be persistent and responsible for Latvian and European citizens throughout their lives! '
Artis Pabriks: “Good education available to the widest range of society” is the basis for the existence of a democratic state, since knowledge is necessary in order to be able to take individual and justified decisions. “Possible Missions” teachers not only add to the knowledge of pupils' knowledge, but, not least, inspire young people to be leaders, make independent decisions, not be afraid to move through the path chosen. Sometimes an inspiring conversation with someone who has already achieved something in life can make a more lasting impression on the future choices of young people than a single mathematics or biology hour. At the moment, the project is faced with financial difficulties, so i have decided to personally support it and call on others to do so, so that our children continue to be inspired and professional teachers! '
Inese Vaidere: “Movement“ possible mission ”is self-sustaining to help talented university graduates and professionals to become inspiring teachers and future leaders. As a result of the“ possible mission ”work, the education system has gained more than a hundred new teachers who have positively influenced pupils throughout Latvia. Congratulations on“ a possible mission ”with this high award.”
The award includes the honorary medal of the European Citizens' Prize, presented in the country of the laureate - the formal ceremony in Latvia will take place in autumn. All laureates from EU countries alone On 9 October, a special event at the European Parliament in Brussels will also be welcomed. More plašāk - on the European Citizens' Prize.
