Lāčplēsis Day run in Sherjans

Sports

In the afternoon of Lāčplēsis, in the afternoon of 10 November, despite the rainy and windy time, the small fountains gathered at THE CN to unite the traditional Lāčplēsis daily running in three different age groups and a range of different lengths.
Over 20 participants were gathered on the run, from which 16 were actually involved. The others strongly supported the athletes with loud encouragement. I did not miss the supporter. It is likely that the weather and the fact that there was a variety of viruses around them, and so many of the sculptors had become sick, played their role in the total number of participants. But for those who participated vigorously in the run, thank you very much.
Before running, the sport teacher, Andris Putrāns, went out with the participants to find out where and how far to run. When you select a running track, we also thought about safety this time so that there was no vehicle and not to cross the street.
The participants were divided by age group (5-7 years, 8 – 11 years and 12 – 25 years). The smaller ones ran one distance circle, the second group – 2 circles and the third age group – 3 circles.
After running, the participants in the cultural house were treated with hot tea and apple pie.
The winners of the first three prizes were awarded with medals in each age group. The other participants received diplomas for participation and small commemorative prizes.
In the age group 5 to 7 years, the 1 st place was won by Stepans Pleanov, 2 nd place – Ģirts Kalnejs. In the 8 to 11 years of age, 1 st place for Victor Bazulim, 2 nd place – Markusam Kapacim and 3 rd place – Adrianai Aleksejeva. In the 12 to 25 years of age, 1 st place for Mikhail Sazonov, 2 nd place – Artim Guard and 3 rd place – Kārlis Kalnejs. Thank you, too, for all the other runners – Igor Pleanov, Samantha Guard, Annie Tashfoot, Dmitry Trashkov, Victoria Brinkevich, Emilia Kapacim, Valerie McEyeva, and Diana Sondorei.
At the end of the event, the participants of the race set up lit candles at the school's sports hall as a memorial for a long-standing sports teacher, a real patriot of his country and parish, the sports “Lāčplēsim” Uldis Kairišam.
