In order to be able to get to patients in dangerous situations faster, the Emergency Medical Assistance Service (NMPD) consists of new brigades and new brigade points in certain Latvian provinces. Such a new team of brigades from March 1 will also begin in the Duchess of Rezekne.
A new type of medical team will be working here, which, according to the Cabinet regulations approved at the end of last year, can be created to improve the reception of aid to the population. In the new team, one medical and operational vehicle driver will be on call. It will work at the time when the people need it most – the team's call will be from 8 to 22 when the most calls arrive on the emergency phone 113 and 80% from all calls are executed.
Such a team started in New Jelgava from 20 February. On the other hand, in larger cities where there are several brigades, one medical team can be created to respond better to calls after their priorities. In cities, one medical team will provide help to patients in lower-priority calls while the task of the rest of the team will be to get to life-critical situations as quickly as possible. Such a team was created in Talsi and just in Gulbene.
The creation of a new type of team is also an opportunity in a very complex situation where workers are lacking, improving the territorial coverage of teams so that patients receive timely help in critical situations. In particular, it is important for the population in regions where, in less populated areas, brigades have to be measured at large distances. Now Dricānu and the people of the surrounding parish will be expected to get emergency medical doctors faster, "says Liene Cipule, Director of NMPD.
People must remember - to get emergency help, you need to call the emergency phone 113 instead of coming to a team point. Medical teams rush from one call to another and do not always be on the spot at their point, and if the operational situation so requires, the team may be redeployed to another location. In such cases, another nearest free team is sent to the call at 113 dispatch centre.
It is also recalled that THE NMPD team does not provide medical advice or help in simpler health situations: in such cases it should continue to be addressed to the family doctor or the nearest medical treatment institution. If a person has suffered a minor injury, there is a sudden illness (increased temperature, runny nose, throat pain etc.) or exacerbated chronic disease, working days should be contacted by the practice of his family doctor or addressed to the local feldsher. On the other hand, the help of the working time of the family doctor shall be provided by rescue doctors and medical practitioners at emergency medical aid points. If you need a medical advice, then at the time of the family doctor's work hours (at 17-8.00) and holidays (all day) can always be called to the family doctor's consultative phone 66016001.
THE NMPD recalls that its task is to provide assistance in situations where human health and life are endangered and the minutes are crucial. THE NMPD medical team should be called if the person is unconscious when there is a life-threatening bleeding, severe injury (road accident, electrotrauma, fire, etc.), there is sudden pain in the chest that may indicate an infarction, a sudden weakness of one side, which may indicate a stroke, or in any other situation where life and aid need to be provided immediately and urgently.
