Latgale release monument “Unified Latvia” – 80!
On September 8 and 9, 2019, we will celebrate the 80 th anniversary of the Latgale Liberation Monument.
According to Leon Tomasicka, the designer of the artist Kārlis Janson Latgale “united Latvia”, which is called Latgale Mars, was discovered in Rezekne on September 8, 1939. On 22 August 1940, the monument of the occupation copper monument was restored on 22 August 1943, the second time the monument was thrown in 1950, and was renewed for the third time on 13 August 1992, consisting of the son of the artist Kārlis Janson, Andrejs Jansons and the artist Indulis Faulkmanis.
On September 8, from 9.00 We will build a flower carpet at the level of the “united Latvia” and invite everyone to join! We will give flowers plucked or garden-leaved flowers to Latgale Mother in order to co-form live flowers. In turn, at 12.00 We will agree to pray in the holy mission of Rezekne Jesus in the cathedral (Latgales street 88b).
9 September at 12.00 will be gathering for a solemn moment at the monument “united for Latvia”, where salutations and congratulations will be heard, and the musician's orchestra “Rezekne” (lead Sergei Sergeyev) and the group “baritoni” will be musicized. Then at 13.00 We shall meet in the Museum of Latgale Cultural History (at the Liberation Alliance 102, Rezekne), where we will jointly watch the documentary film “Latgale Mars Road 1939-1992” (2009, Director Voldemar Ivdris, operator Maris Justs), introduce the supplemented and reissued book “monument and time” (compiled by Irene Wilchuk), as well as listen to the memory of the people who were active in the reconstruction of the monument (Osvalds Zvejsalnieks, Aleksejs source, Irene Wilchuk, etc.).
The 80 th anniversary celebration of Latgale Liberation Monument is organised by Rēzekne council, local government agency “Rezekne Culture and Tourism Centre” (tel. 64607672, 26106775) and the association “Latgalians”.
