More than 50 thousand Latvian people from 15 to 29 years of age do not work, do not receive or receive trade, but only slightly more than 20 thousand of them receive support for job search. The main obstacles that prevent these young people from settling are the lack of experience and the insufficient level of education for the labour market. These problems are common to many Member States of the European Union.
In order to reduce youth unemployment, with the support of the European Commission, the “Youth Guarantee” programme is implemented, as the European Commission, Latvian state and private funders have invested more than eur 66 million in Latvia by the end of 2020. The programme helps young people to learn the professions suitable for the labour market and find work. The programme involves the State Agency for Employment (SEA), more than 40 vocational educational institutions under the guidance of the State Education Development Agency (VIAA) and the youth international programme agency (JSPA) in cooperation with local governments throughout Latvia. IN the summer of that year, THE JSPA is planning to involve young people in the project by providing mentor and advisory support through the implementation of individual action programmes for the development of skills.
On March 27, that year, in Daugavpils exhibition “educational opportunities” in the premises of the cinema “Renaissance”, on the street of the unit 30, at 12:00 will take place in the “Youth Guarantee” press conference in the form OF a talk show IN THE TV face and musician Martin Kozlovska or Kozman. The first Vice-President of THE EC Delegation in Latvia, Inna Šteinbuka, former Deputy Chairman of Daugavpils City Council, Jānis Dukšskis, Deputy Director of Vocational Education Project Department of the State Education Development Agency Aiga Sidare, Latvian Car Anastasija Grigorjeva and Daugavpils rock group Dabasu Durovys solist Arnis Slobogenin will discuss the issues of youth employment and education. It will also be possible to meet young people who are involved in the programme and can share their experiences.
At the time of the exhibition from 10:00 to 18:00 visitors will be able to meet the opportunities provided by the “Youth Guarantee” – support for the acquisition of further education and the search for first work experience or work. It will be possible to personally meet and discuss unclear issues with SEA career advisors and participate in various youth motivating and entertaining workshops.
The “back to school 2015” mobile express organised by the European Commission representations in Latvia will also be available, in which it will be possible to obtain information on the European Union in an attractive manner and to verify their knowledge by participating in competitions. The mobile express will be located in the unit area
In order to familiarise the public with the “Youth Guarantee” programme, interactive events will also take place in Jelgava, Liepaja and Valmiera.
