Latgale people with medals returned from beach sports games in Visaginas

On June 1, 2019, beach sports games for young people in Latvia and Lithuania took place in Visagin (Lithuania). They participated in 50 participants from Latgale region, representing the municipality of Award, Daugavpils, Dagda, Kraslava, Livana, Ludza, Rezekne and Viļānu, as well as Daugavpils City Municipalities. In this event, the youth teams of Latgale region won 11 prize seats (4 teams won 1 st place, 3 teams – 2 nd and 4 teams – 3 rd place).
Sandis Vashkevics and Adrian Vashkevics from Ludza municipality (boys in the age group up to 17 years) took place at the beach volleyball match. Zubrova and Karina Beiner, from Daugavpils municipality, managed to win 2 nd place in the beach volleyball (girls age group up to 17 years). In the age group from 17 years of age, the gold medal was won by Santa Springs and Elina Mitchule from Rēzekne District, while the Rēzekne county team – Andrejs Kazlovs and Juris Bistrovs – won the bronze medal. In total, 36 teams participated (72 participants).
Gold medals at beach football won the United Lephen and Viļānu novada team – Intars Zeps, Roberts Karkovskis, Andis Šarigin, Sandis Locans and Arvis Vips (boys in the age group 15-16 years). On the other hand, the team of Daugavpils municipality, Erik Gravelis, Erik Gushev, Rihards Vaņkov, Roman Atrahimovich, Vladislav Kuzmickis, Valentin Meinarts and Dmitry Ivanov remained in this age group. Daugavpils City girls' team won silver medals, while the Rēzekne municipality team – Elise Poisha, Santa Springs, Elina Mitchule, Amanda Lucianova and Lāsma novika – won bronze medal at beach football. 14 teams (70 participants) participated in this discipline.
On the other hand, Latgale region teams won 4 prize seats. “Rivers” from Daugavpils – Rimants Vilcans, Rihards Safins and Arthur Bozovics (boys aged less than 13) ranked. The same team, playing with older opponents, won 3 rd place (boys aged 14-15 years). A team of prizes – Dāvis Mack, Andis Šmuskov and Guntis Dzanuska – won 2 nd place (boys in the age group 16-17 years), while the Rēzekne county team – Juris Bistrovs, Elise Poisha, Rudolf Poish and Lāsma Novikova – remained at 3 th place in this age group. 28 teams (96 participants) participated in this discipline.
The event also took part in the canoe of the Olympic Games silver medal, Yevgenius Shuklins, who, along with the lead, went to the dragon boat. In total, 80 participants had the chance to ride a dragon boat and learn how to navigate.
In parallel to sports competitions, demonstration and relay of firefighters were also held, the border guards offered to enjoy the gardening of the countryside and walk along the Visaginas Lake, along with rescue boats.
