In Latgale region, surface treatment is planned more than 80 km long on national road with low-tech coverage

VAS Latvia's road operator in Latgale region, in order to improve mobility and road safety, is planned to carry out road surface treatment for 35 regional and local road sections, which are in poor technical condition. Selective simple surface treatment for asphalt cover roads is intended to be carried out over more than 75 kilometres but double surface treatment for gravel roads for more than seven kilometres.
Selective simple surface treatment is planned to be carried out on 31 national road with asphalt cover. Selective simple surface treatment is carried out in one or more sections of the road. Selective simple surface treatment extends the lifetime of road surface and improves driving conditions for drivers. The work results in the watertight waterproof of the road. The works will be carried out at more than eur 1.5 million.
The gravel road will be restored at different stages and double surface treatment will be carried out. The works will be carried out at more than EUR 670 thousand.
Double surface treatment will be carried out on four national road roads with gravel cover. The benefits of road surface treatment are the population living in its vicinity, as it is no longer available, more comfortable driving conditions are provided, as well as reducing road maintenance costs because it is not to be graded. The road surface after treatment becomes similar to asphalt, but the cover is not comparable to the strength and strength of the asphalt cover. Therefore, the cover may be damaged by intensive truck traffic or overhead manoeuvre, drifting. Consequently, the double surface treatment is carried out on road, with low traffic intensity.
For the improvement of road safety in Latgale region, more than 315 thousand euros will be channelled. In order to improve transparency in road crossings and bin bands, the use of grass, bushes and their offspring will be carried out. The asphalt cover will be carried out on the road to prevent the height difference between the asphalt and the edge, thus improving traffic safety.
