LEADER projects – nature, work, life in their municipality

With the motto “nature, work, life in his municipality!” “The partnership of the Rēzekne District Communities” (partnership) implements a community-led local development strategy for 2015-2020 (IMVA strategy) in the municipality of Rezekne and Viļānu.
The funding of THE EAFRD Fund for the implementation of the OBJECTIVES of THE IMVA strategy “developed multidisciplinary entrepreneurship” and “quality and well-equipped living environment” amounted to almost 1.7 million euro during the 2015-2020 programming period. Between 2016 and 2018, almost 1,6 million euro or 90% of the IMVA strategy allocated in the area of operation of the partnership, 5 project competitions were announced, a total of 106 project applications were announced, 24 business projects with total EAFRD funding of eur 738280.32, with 39 new jobs planned in total. Business projects are implemented in logging, wood processing, food production, trade, auto repair, active recreational and SpA services, tourism and other activities. In turn, 82 public good projects with total EAFRD funding of eur 783723,00, of which 11 infrastructure, 59 initiatives (including 2 training) and 12 social projects. The public benefit projects are implemented with the aim of improving the village infrastructure – for the benefit of social services, the diversification of cultural and public activities, the preservation of Latgale culture, values and traditions, the restoration of cultural historical buildings, the promotion of lifelong learning and interest education.

The implementation OF THE IMVA strategy is in line with the funding allocated to the Partnership Operational Territory. In order to attract additional funding for the next phase of the business and public benefit projects, the partnership shall assess the implementation of the results of the strategy (mid-term evaluations), develop the technical amendments of the strategy, which will be submitted to the Rural Support Service and the Strategy Evaluation Committee for further consideration. The next LEADER project competition is expected to be launched at the end of that year.
