On 22 February, the Central Library of Rezekne invited every lead to the lecture “safe food” prepared by the Food and Veterinary Service Inspector Ināra Dzindzuka.
The listeners had arrived in a crowd, and it proved that the food issues were topical. At the beginning OF the lecture, MR Dzindzuka presented the main tasks of the Food and Veterinary Service, stressing that the purpose of the service is safe and safe food for consumers, healthy and properly cared animals.
Since 2004, when Latvia became a member of the European Union, the concept of food surveillance “from field to table” is implemented, which is modern, Latvian conditions and a system compatible with the requirements of the European Union, the main advantage of which is the ability to track the entire food production cycle. The European Union's food safety policy has two objectives: protecting human health and the interests of consumers and promoting the smooth functioning of the single European market. The Inspector talked about EU regulations governing food hygiene, talked about genetically modified food, food additives and food supplements, new foods and nano products.
Food buyers should be more closely acquainted with the information available on the product label before purchasing the product. The purpose of the labelling of the products is the complete information on the content and composition of the product, thereby protecting the health and interests of the consumer. MR Dzindzuka responded to the questions present, stressing that, in terms of food safety, the personal choice and responsibility of each person are also of great importance. '
The lecture visitors at the end of the event were able to meet a literature exhibition prepared by librarians healthier - healthier, and to share their thoughts on the lessons heard in the lecture.
Thank Ināra Dzindzukai and the supporter of the event “Europe Direct Information Centre in Eastern Latgale”.
