“Lursoft” has investigated the most valuable enterprises in Latvia and regions in 2018, the most valuable company in Latgale – Rezekne Special Economic Zone SIA “VEREMS” (Rezekne municipality)
Latvia's ten most valuable companies concentrate on Riga and Pierīga, while the average value of companies last year is fastest growing in Latgale. “Latvenergo”, a wood panels producer “Kronospan Riga” and “Latvian State Forests” have been recognised as the most valuable companies, according to a study of Lursoft, which analyses the assessment of all Latvian companies for 2018.
Among Latgale companies, THE TOP 10 most valuable company is Rezekne Special Economic Zone SIA “VEREMS” (Rezekne municipality).
According to Lursoft, the media reported that the study estimated that the total value of companies in 2018 reached eur 30,65 billion. A year before, in 2017, the total value of these companies was 27,051 TP1T. In 2017, the companies analysed in the study amended €51.71 billion and earned €2.54 billion after tax.
The assessment of companies is calculated in cooperation with “SE Capitalia” based on the financial indicators available in Lursoft databases and taking into account the historical turnover of companies and business sectors as well as growth and profitability. The assessment does not take into account future business forecasts and other specific factors that could affect the market value of companies.
In total, 1790 companies have exceeded 1 million euro in 2018, among them being the electricity company “Latvenergo”, which has reached 2.52 billion euro. Compared to 2017, THE value OF “Latvenergo” grew 2.72 times.
By analysing THE TOP 10 most valuable companies in Latvia in 2018, it is shown that the entire list is occupied by capital companies, with only the SIA “Maxima Latvia” registered in Riga.

Higher average for regions in regions
The study reveals that the average value of enterprises in 2018 was 10.7 thousand euros, and the average rating of these merchants increased by 38.61 TP1T during the year.
The study data show that, despite the fact that Latvia'S TOP 10 companies are concentrated in Riga, the capital city and its surrounding companies have recorded the lowest average last year.
Lursoft has investigated that the value of 11,651 TP1T of all companies registered in Riga is set at below 1000 euro in 2018.
An even lower average than in Riga is only Pieriga companies. The data reveal that the Pierre Region is the only one in which the average value of enterprises in 2018 was below eur 10 000. In particular, they have been 9970 euros last year. In the course of the year, the average value of these companies grew by 38.861 TP1T.
The average value of enterprises has grown in all regions during the year, and the most rapid growth has been in Latgale – the average estimate of the companies analysed within the framework of the study has increased by 60.241 TP1T during the year.
“Lursoft has examined that, compared to 2017, the value has grown 61.131 TP1T from all Latgale companies.
The most valuable companies are found in Kurzeme, where the average value of registered companies has reached 11.9 thousand euros per company in 2018. The value of Kurzeme companies analysed in the study has increased by 50.921 TP1T and 2.761 TP1T from all Kurzeme enterprises over the year. For comparison, in Vidzeme, this indicator reaches 1.751 TP1T, Pierīga 2.161 TP1T, while Zemgale – 2.601 TP1T.
Who are the most valuable regions?
“Lursoft” has examined that the most valuable companies, despite the fact that the lower average value of companies registered in Riga and its surroundings, is concentrated directly in the capital city and in its capital.
Among the most valuable companies are the municipality of Marupes (from THE TOP 10 companies in the Marupes district registered 4), Kurzeme – Ventspils, Latgale – Daugavpils, Zemgale – Jelgava and Aizkraukles municipality, while the companies from Valmiera and Smiltenes are dominated in Vidzeme Laders.

The most valuable – between gambling and producers
The study reveals that there are sharp differences in the value of companies by analysing economic operators according to the sectors they represent. While the average value of companies in the gambling sector is estimated at more than eur 3 million, the average value in 2018 was only 3.5 thousand euros.
Areas related to manufacturing are also included among the most valuable sectors, as well as areas that require significant capital investment in technologies such as waste water collection and treatment.
