Maltas for children and youth at the Centre for Notification

On 2 May, Maltas children and young people were involved in Latgale-wide activity: lessons at an hour. THE case OF Maltas was special in the middle of more than 40 schools, as the presentation of the Latgalian values took place not only in promises but creative in a free, creative interest education environment – in the centre of children and young people.

In the afternoon of this day, three groups took place in the centre, then, in our case, the atmosphere of latgality could be felt by any BJC visitor, that is, every entrance to the door was met BY BJC Methode Inta Bule with a sweetness basket and a question of “Voi tu runoj/saminute latgalically?”. It should be noted that THE BJC visitors are Maltas secondary school pupils, including those whose mother tongue is Russian, but this was not an obstacle this time, because literally none of the speakers said they did not understand latgalically.

First in the hall was the children of Grade 1-5, and a large screen presentation and a multimedia film “vasals, Vinnej Pūk”, created by Viļānu music and art school students last year. It must be said that the teachers and management of the Centre also listened with interest to the words and watched the top letter to the popular Lāwhisper. In any case, it was a new encounter with the Latgalian language, in addition to the animation film.

The children were then told about the events in the first week of May that year in Rēzekne and the first Latgale congress. For a real “rosé” and a peculiar shock of shock, i found a slide in which i had inserted a Latvian map without Latgale. The children said that Latvia “is very bad without Latgale” and asked essentially deep questions: how could Latgale cut off if Latgale was pink as Russia? There is no doubt: if not the names Trassun and Kemp, they will certainly remember this presentation and the significance of this Congress will be embedded in their subconscious.

The most cheerful part of the lesson with the smallest was the cutting of “Breinumu scrytulle”, which had to recognize latgalic words in 24 sections and could obtain useful and delicious balls that had been taken by the organisers of the event — the Rēzekne Technology Academy. As the hall had to be released for the next regiments, the intended toys remained, but they could remember what Boņuks was, and the new book “Gothel pi Boņuk” decrypted the latgalic text (the children knew that there was also a game in the annex to this book that allowed Latgale to travel). I won't hide – both the small and big children first heard of Veronica Tench-Goldman – a Malaysian counselor who had written a bibliographical rarity - a poem in the prose “Pastareite”, as she says, with a quiet desire for Boņukai to have a little sister, Agnes.

Much more serious, but also knowing and fun was a lesson with the 6 th-12 th grade pupils with whom we saw a presentation on the first Latgale Congress, its centennial events, the news in the Latgalian edition. Similarly, young people were able to see a book table with basic and new editions in Latgalian language, self-study the first Latgalian newspapers (which are digitised LNB), as well as explore two maps – “with Latgola's heart” (which, by the way, in 2015, we got a gift with BJC journalist group win THE RTA competition in 11 schools competition!) and “inspired land Latvia” (with viewing sites throughout the country).

But with special interest, young people gathered points in performing the test “what do you know about this historical event?” (lsm.lv) and mentioning monuments located mainly in Rezekne. Now young Maltese will really know who F.Tradog, F.Kemps, Nicodam Ranan, Valerie Seile, Vladislav Rubulis, Mikelis Buksh, Julian Waivods. Also so-called The full name of the “Latgale Mars” monument was an emotion when we repeated it repeatedly (Latgale's release from foreign countries “united Latvia”). The last activity was really helpful, because it turned out that children, driving and walking by monuments, had never noticed many of them.

In conclusion, we know two computer games: “Īsapazeisim” and we checked my knowledge of the Maltese game “Go there, don't know where, don't call it.”.

Admittedly, the idea of an hour of such lessons has been justified and, although Maltā was not so wide-ranging as it would have been, but even those (around 30 children) who stopped for a moment at the Latgalic word “scrytol”, looked at the books or watched the Latgalian multimedia film, convinced that the Latgalian language was alive not only in their rumor speech but also in printed editions, multimedia films, computer games. Children are open books and only from us, adults, depending on what and what ink we'll record in them.

The Latgalian language is our fortune and i feel sorry for people who don't recognize it or go with a curve for their ancestral heritage. Many, wishing to be “fine” and thinking that Latvians speak “right”, have taken the blessing from their homes, believing that the latgalic may be harmful to the prophecy (although the child still hears the language!). It comes to a story about the hedgehog of the hedgehog, when the mine is burned and the ashes are scattered in the wind of the world, but the child must be in life without his grandparents' heritage, a spiritual half-naked.

More sad is the fact that parents' mistakes in Latvian literary languages are pronounced in children. And even more closely, the rumor of those who are either trying to do their own, or the children of the children, are asked not to talk to him in latgalically. In doing so, we try to distort children's speech and cause him problems if he wants to link his life in the future, for example, with the profession of an actor in our capital city. Not devoted to the “Vuolyudzani” competition in this year's beauty-reader competition (already 17 th year!) On the 1 st High School of Rezekne, the representative of the jury of the jury, Kristaps Rasim, “led to the heart”, that the latgalic accent was easier for the man who had spoken latgalically from his childhood, not the one who had read all of his “right” literary-speaking rade family error “flavour”.

How important it would be for us, the Latgalians, to think about it all together and to draw any conclusions. The interest (training) as a subject of conversation should first come into each family, then it will also be adequately addressed in school lessons. Let us be true to the children of our Latgale!
