On 14 November, a event was held at Nautrēnu High School, which was told about the organisations of Latvia. In the Eastern Latgale of the Europe Direct Information Centre, the coordinator of the Inta Rimšāne pupils informed the European Union and the possibilities of the EU-Canada trade agreement as well as the possibilities of cooperation with Canada, a country with common interests and values with the European Union. On the other hand, the representatives of the various national army talked about NATO.
Meeting Nautrēnu, Bērzgales and Jaunjjan pupils had arrived IN Latvia's expanded presence in Latvia in battle group soldiers from three countries - Canada, Spain and Poland. The battalion-level battle group led by Canada is located in Latvia in June of that year and consists of around 1000 soldiers from Canada, Albania, Italy, Poland, Slovenia and Spain. Soldiers told pupils about their country, highlighting what was common to both countries. “Both Latvians and Canadians like hockey, both nations very much like activities and sports in fresh air, even weather conditions are similar”, the Canadian army instructor Sean Magill said. Similarly, the Spanish instructors were told about their countries, but the Polish army officer, Lieutenant Piotrs Otlewski, not only said about the army, but also called for a visit to Poland, where there is a great deal of interesting history monuments and beautiful nature.
“We love being Nautrēnu at school and working with children, it is very energetic. We are delighted about the nice reception and the wonderful musical performances that children gave us”, said Lieutenant Piotrs Otlewski. As a result of his career in the Latvian Army, he was also an instructor of the Mashanised Brigade of the Land Forces, General Sergeant Janis Rubulis, who said of the land forces, the diversity of the professions in the army, and what attention should be paid to the school to become a soldier.
“We very much like this event”, said Nautrēnu school director Anita Ludborža, “all foreign guests are very well prepared to talk about their country, the army, about what they do in Latvia. I enjoyed the narrative of General Sergeant John Rubuille, now our pupils know how much different professions are needed in the Latvian Army. Of course, it is very interesting for everyone to look at the technique and equipment of the Latvian Army, as well as to admit the Allied Equipment. It is a pleasure that we have more and closer guests at our school week. We are always open to various challenges and interesting things.
The National Guard 32, located in Rezekne, had also arrived to support the event. The small battalion soldiers who demonstrated the technique and equipment at the National Guard, telling them about the possibilities to protect the country, were in the National Guard. It should be said that this section of the event seemed very interesting not only for the pupils but also for the Allies. In order for the communication between foreign guests and pupils to be successful, the support of the 1 st course interpreters of the Rēzekne Technology Academy, for whom this was the first experience of this kind, had come to support the event.
