For the sixth year, the Latvian Cultural Academy (LKA) organised a Latvian cultural canon competition for young people to promote cultural heritage artifacts important to young people. The tasks of the competition are related to the values of the cultural canon of Latvia and encourage the identification, research and communication thereof. On 26 January, the Latvian National Library held a competition “Latvian Cultural Canon for Latvia's centuries”, which successfully started THE Nautrēnu secondary school team, receiving the first degree diploma for the updating of the People's songs.
In the school year 2017/2018, the theme of the cultural canon was “a cultural canon message in the next hundredth of Latvia.” If the competition was originally intended as an Olympics, the cultural canon competition has gained a deeper role in the development of cultural awareness and creativity of the school youth and has become an annual tradition in Latvian cultural education. And all these six years OF Nautrēnu secondary school students have supported it.
The first stage took place during the national holiday week in five regions of Latvia. On November 14, 2017, five Latgale schools took part in Rēzekne, Latgale embassy “GORS”. THE Nautrēnu high school team was represented by the 12 th-class girl Sandra Tim, Santa Gricane, Christine Gailums and teacher Valentine Turlaya. The competitions had to present the value of one of the Latvian cultural canons, which they believe should be promoted as a cultural heritage of Latvia in the centuries of Latvia and the communication solutions of this value in the Latvian cultural canon's updated website should be offered. THE Nautrēnu High School surveyed and presented to Latgale the typical May service of the free-nature cross tradition, obtaining 1 st place and the opportunity to participate in the next two stages.
On January 12, in Riga, LKA theatre house “horse mail”, in the creative seminar organised under the competition, 13 student teams took new skills in media communication and used them in practice. One of the tasks was the attraction of special competitions: the pupils formed “mute” or “mute” (a total of 40) on the values included in the cultural canon of Latvia, which reached a wide audience and attracted public attention to social networks and media.
On 26 January, the Latvian National Library held a competition “Latvian Cultural Canon for Latvia's centuries”. The finalists of the competition created a text on cultural canon values intended for multimedial environment – both https://kulturaskanons.lv/and a cultural canon for Facebook account. The facts of the cultural canon values should be reflected in pupils so that the text created would attract the audience of foreigners, that it would be short, concise, as well as an illustrative and attractive illustration of the value of the value. The texts created by finalists were evaluated by representatives of the Latvian Academy of Culture, the Ministry of Culture, the National Library of Latvia, the National Centre for Education Content, the Latvian National centenary Bureau, the Latvian National Cultural Centre, THE UNESCO Latvian National Commission, the Baltic Media Excellence Centre and the Latvian National Youth Action Committee.
The messages of the pupils on values will be seen on the Latvian cultural channel Facebook page, they will also be used by the National Library of Latvia https://kulturaskanons.lv/ for the development of the website.
