Sports

The summer and winter fishing competitions have become a good tradition in rural parish for several years. Local fishermen - enthusiastics - are very happy to participate in competitions, thereby promoting fishing, both as an active and healthy rest in free nature, and as a meeting and a nice joint venture in a group of domains. This time, after the big role, the participants went to the River Aiviekstes.
At a very early morning of 19 August, 21 Sherjan parish fishermen sat on the bus to go to the River Aiviekstes. Among the total number of fishermen, five were children who participated in competitions in their age group, and their roles were also assessed separately. All the small fishermen were seen either by parents or by another responsible person.
After the event, the competition took 5 hours in one round, so the participants could try even several places on the banks of the river and finally find the one in which they are best.
The catch fished by each fisherman was weighed on the electronic weighing scales, with an accuracy of up to 1 gram. No fishermen remained with Aiviekste's fish. One role was bigger than a smaller one, but the most important thing was to enjoy the angling process.
In the children's group, 1 st was “fished” Valentin Juks (0.860 kg), 2 nd place – Karlis Kalnejs (0.725 kg) and 3 rd place – Vitalijs Juks (0.598 kg). The winners received diplomas and awards (telephone headphones). The other two children were also given little promotion prizes for diligence and patience.
In the adult category, 1 st was won by John Vish (3.422 kg), 2 nd place – Janis Bautris (2.154 kg) and 3 rd place – Grigory Kalinin (1.841 kg). All winners were awarded with diplomas and awards. Janis Vishesh also received the award for the largest fish caught (0.737 kg).
The promotion prize, as the sole representative of the same sex, was received by Inita Konošonoka, whose role weighed 1.100 kg. Small commemorative awards were given in other nominations (minor role, oldest fisherman, superior suit, etc.)
At the end of the competition, all the participants met a delicious fish soup that was boiled on the shore of the River Aiviekstes while the fishermen were playing their roles.
Big and sincere thanks to all the fishermen who participated in the competition – Initai Konshonokai, Valdis Jakuskins, Janis Visham, Ralph Visham, Armands Žurovsky, Aivar Laganovsky, Alexander Georgio, Edgar Buravcov, novo Georgian, Inar Omula, Grigory Kalinin, Janis Bauthree, Artis Gorodničius, Janis Gorodničius, Raivim Razgalim, Christapam Groznie, Emilia Kapacim, Valentine Shukam, Vitaly Kapacim, Raivim Bazulim, and Carlim Kalneen.
