Visit of the Working Group of the Norwegian Red Cross Committee to the Rēzekne Committee

In order to assess mutual co-operation in 2015 and to set new tasks for 2016, a working group of the Norwegian red cross Oppland Committee on the three-man team, the volunteer project co-ordinator, Margreta Taarud and the social programmes volunteer Nadia Knutsen, had appeared on a working visit to the Latvian Red Cross (LSK) in Rēzekne Committee from 2 to 6 December.

During the visit, the representatives of Norway had a meeting with the President of the municipality of Rezekne, Monweed Schwarz, who appreciated the cooperation of the two committees and thanked the people for their help. “We need to learn from Norwegian cooperation partners how people are involved IN SK and volunteering, as it develops and develops people's compassion,” said Schwartz.

On 4 December, THE LSK Rēzekne Committee organised an international voluntary daily event, to which both Norwegian cooperation partners and volunteers and employees were invited. An insight was provided in the 2015 action and identified key programmes in 2016, including the improvement of existing services and new implementation, youth work, strengthening international cooperation with a joint event, organising training for both young people and the service home care workers. In a good mood event, the volunteer youth of the Rēzekne Committee, Christine and ARPC “Zeimuļs”, a group of Christian guitarists, Jelizaveta, Iveta, Viacheslav, Sarmite. Thank you for the musical accompaniment.

During the visit, representatives of the Working Groups of both Committees met on a number of occasions at the Round Table to coordinate joint activities and activities for 2016. The result came as an agreement was signed between representatives of the two committees on joint activities in 2016: youth camps, training, experience sharing visits, as well as the “work therapy” project.

The last day was dedicated to the cultural programme. The guests were introduced to Latgale pearls – Lūznavas Manor, excursion in the museum of bread, Aglona basilica and the mountain of Christ.
