Completed Silmalas pre-school educational institution reconstruction project

On 14 July, the reconstruction project of the Rēzekne Municipality Silmalas was completed by a solemn ceremony. Representatives of THE U.S. embassy, THE U.S. Air Force National Guard and Latvian National Armed Forces participated in the festive event, as well as the Chairman OF the Rēzekne District Council Monvīds Švarcs and other invited guests. The chief of THE U.S. Armed Forces in Europe, in collaboration with THE US embassy in Latvia and the Rēzekne District Council, carried out a Silmalas kindergarten renovation in the framework of the civil military cooperation project – the construction of the roof and facade warmth, as well as the changing of the door.
In a formal event AT Silmalas in the cultural house, the head of THE U.S. embassy in Latvia, the head of the Defence Cooperation Bureau, Colonel Lieutenant Robert McVey, expressed the pleasure that this joint project of joint efforts by US and Latvian military engineers and other involved partners brought a contribution to the local community in Latvia, especially for its future – children. THE US direct financial contribution to the project is more than usd 154 000, but this is only one of many civil cooperation projects financed by the United STATES armed forces in Europe. “These projects symbolize THE us's constant attitude towards Latvian citizens since the date of their national independence in 1918. Our relationship is based on shared values: national independence, economic growth and a safer future.“ We're proud to be your allies, partners and friends, ”said Robert McQueen.
"Of course we see an orderly building, a roof, a warmth outside wall, but i would like to emphasise not only that part of the financial and activity but the cooperation between people. It was pleasant to see practical cooperation between THE US and Latvian military engineers, the construction firm, but it was even more pleasant to see how U.S. representatives not only work, but also participate in local community life, visit various cultural events, tourism objects, look at landscapes,” – the chairman OF the Rēzekne municipality council, Monvīds Švarcs, said the participants of the event. He also gave the local government thanks and commemorative souvenirs to several participants in the project.
The renovation of kindergartens was launched on 6 June of that year, which was implemented BY THE US and Latvian military engineers in collaboration with the municipality of Rezekne and the construction firm SIA “velve AE”. In the framework of the project, the insulation of the facade, cap, roof and other energy efficiency-enhancing activities will be carried out, which will reduce the consumption of thermal energy and allow a comfortable climate for children in the spaces.
THE Jelena dzene, head of the Silmalas pre-school educational institution, expressed great thanks to the United STATES Armed Forces Commander in Europe, the Rēzekne District Council, THE U.S. Air Force National Guards and the Latvian military engineers who jointly performed this work. “The building has become more attractive, its technical condition has improved, it is delighted that there is one organized building in the Silverbank. I think that all the parish people are winners, especially children. '
The event with songs was accompanied by THE Rēzekne municipality'S Vērēmu parish children's Bar ansamblis (manager Solvita Pavlovska), the symbolic strip of the Ribbon at the entrance of the kindergarten, there was also a large number of large and small warmers who were happy to take photographs with THE U.S. soldiers.
Similar projects have been implemented in other parts of Latvia for several years, including the change and warmth of the roof in the 1 st High School of Ogre, the changeover OF the windows in the Gimnesian Gymnasium, the mounting of the fence around Ādaži High School, as well as the reconstruction of the Naujen children's house.
