On 3 July, it was decided at the Saeima meeting to announce the emergency situation in the affected area of African swine fever (ASCM), that is, a radius of 40 kilometres around the epicentre of the disease in the border of Belarus. This quarantine zone also includes Pušas, Kaunatas and Mākoņkalna parish in Rezekne District, so the municipality is actively involved in the implementation of the disease control measures.

In order to inform about the seriousness of the situation and respond to the unclear issues of the population, on July 2, THREE quarantine areas, hunters and parish growers were invited to the meeting ON 2 July AT Kaunatas parish. At the beginning of the meeting, the head of the Food and Veterinary Service (PVD) North Latgale Administration, Martin Nukša, noted that the most important thing to know – if there was some suspicion of domestic swine fever or a dead forest pig, immediate contact with PVD staff (North Latgale administration phones: 64622160, 64622177, contact information can also be found) ON THE PVD website).

The situation is particularly serious by the fact that, unlike classical swine fever, no vaccine is available for African swine fever. “In order to prevent further spread of swine fever, animal keepers should remember that the movement of pigs from the holding to the holding, as well as the removal of pigs and pig meat outside the surveillance zone, is prohibited in the three surveillance zones,” Mark Newukša explained in the meeting. As domestic pigs are infected from feral pigs, the specialists also call for not to be kept in pork outdoor enclosures, while they must disinfect footwear before entering the porcine areas.
There are strict restrictions on hunters in the quarantine zone. The order stipulates that the hunters are obliged to inform the National Forest Service immediately of each hunted forest, while the samples of the blood and internal organs of the hunted pig must be sent to laboratory examinations. Until the results are received, the animal carcass must be stored in a cool, undivided manner. Also in cases where the results of the tests do not show the presence of the virus, the meat slaughtered must be left in the quarantine zone, even if the hunter resides in one of the parish parishes. In addition, processed meat must not be removed from the surveillance zone.
The rest of the Rēzekne municipality's parish and hunters' daily disease is currently not affected – the pigs may be hunted, both transported and transported, and sold and sold as so far, however, as stressed by the M. The snake, which is suspected of being suspected of being infected with this contagious disease, should be contacted immediately by PVD.
In order to inform more about the signs of swine fever, how to protect their holdings from contamination and how to act on hunters, THE FVD has developed informative leaflets in Latvian and Russian, which will be delivered to all 25 Rēzekne municipality parish administrations. It is expected that the booklets will be delivered to each holding through the parish administration. Booklets can also be received in the parish administration building or download ON THE PVD website.
IN THE area affected BY THE ASF, the country will compensate for losses to holdings affected by the disease. It should be noted that the compensation will be paid only to holdings in which pigs are registered. It may be done free of charge in the agricultural data centre or in the event of confusion by contact with the rural development advisor of his parish. More information on the amount of the compensation and the documents to be submitted may be obtained in the rural support service; or ON THE LAD website.
Austrumlatgales virsmežniecības inženieris un speciālists medību jautājumos Aivars LukšaIn the meantime, the emergency situation has been announced by 1 October, but it is important to note that each of the subsequent cases of swine fever prolongs this period, so THAT THE PVD specialists allow that the emergency situation and hence the restrictions on the porcine and hunters will be maintained longer. Meanwhile, the population, particularly those living in the quarantine zone, is invited to be as cautious as possible and to follow all the GUIDANCE of THE WHO to prevent the spread of swine fever and to protect the territory of Rezekne from entering the disease. As a meeting of the Eastern Latgale Forestry Engineer and a specialist in hunting matters, Aivars Lukasis said: “if the worst scenario and swine fever spread in an even wider area, the hunting of forest pigs may be forgotten for at least ten years. The species will not die, but the number of pigs will decrease so much that the hunt will have to be banned, so the disease must be fought until it is controlled. '
It is recalled that THE ASF series started on 26 June when the border guards found dead pigs in the border border. In total, by 4 July, the disease was detected in 13 forest pigs and 4 domestic pigs.
