From 13 September to 20 November, students in the 8 th-12 th Latgale region had the opportunity to participate in the competition “Muna Sate, School, Posting/Violation 1917-2015”.
The aim of the competition was to identify local, individual stories about the most brightest events, personalities in families, schools, school history, parish and cities that show the 1917 situation, its impact and changes in almost 100 years of development.
50 pupils from 11 Latgale schools participated in the competition. The by-laws of the competition meant that young people would set out their vision by creating a newspaper. 15 newspapers were submitted for the competition, which were evaluated in two classes: classes 8-10 and classes 11-12. The final event will be held on 27 November, at the University of Rezekne, announcing the results of the competition by rewarding the winners.
The winners of the prize are provided in cooperation with Members of the European Parliament, Prof. Inesi Vaideri, whose best newspapers will be invited to attend the European Parliament in Brussels in 2016, as well as the other participants in the awards.
The best tender works will be used in educational computer games, as well as in building a documentary on Latgale merger congress, linking this historical fact with the values, documents, testimony of the state of Latvia and the permanent generation of the Latvian state.
The competition takes place with the support of the Ministry of Culture within the framework of the programme “Latvia 100”.
