The artist Osvalds Zvejsalnieks will be honoured this year as a lifelong contribution to the development of Latgalian culture.

On Sunday 24 February, the eleventh annual festival “Boņuks” will be presented for the eleventh time, where the artist Osvalds Zvejsalnieks will be honoured with the most important Latgalian cultural events, persons and activities of last year.
The painter, the teacher and the person directing the proceedings – it can be said about Osvald Fisherman. Born on 21 March 1944 in Varakhans, raised in Zvejsalas, Rēzekne, but he has been called Rezekne for more than 50 years. In 1971, he was a member of the Latvian Art Academy (LMA), since 1976 he is a member of the Latvian artists' Union. Since 1970 he has worked in the secondary school of Rezekne College of Art, currently the Director of the Rēzekne Art and Design Secondary School, THE professor OF LMA. Osvalds Zvejsalnieks participates in exhibitions since 1971, organizing around 20 personal exhibitions, regularly participating in plenary and group exhibitions both in Latvia and abroad.
Thanks to Osvald's work in Rezekne is one of the best secondary schools in Latvia, the only branch of the Latvian Academy of Art outside Riga, which is the basis for an entire generation of artists in Latgale, is created by the Rēzekne art house with the only permanent exhibition of Latgale artists in the world. Osvalds Zvejsalnieks is the head of the renovation work of the monument “Unified Latvia” (“Latgales Mars”), a Latvian waker driver in Rezekne, Latgale, and, of course, the bright colour and white church Latgale, which is enriched in Osvald's paintings and will remain temporarily, is only part of the performance to thank.
The art scientist Ingrida Burāne says about Osvald Zvejsalnieks: “I think that the receipt of the prize is an extremely beautiful event not only in Osvald but also in the cultural life of Latgale and also in Latvia, because Osvald and Latgale are not separable concepts, but what he has done for Latgale is the benefit of all Latvia. There are so many things that Latgale's cultural life, Latgale people, Latgale's existence and future without Osvald's work would be different – more modest, maybe in many areas."

The ceremony of the celebration ceremony will be held on 24 February that year at 16.00 Latgale embassy GORE in the big hall. The ceremony is expected to be nominated by nominations, evaluation Commission, media representatives and any Latgalian cultural interest. The “Boņuks 2018” award is first led by comic Janis Skutelis, but with musical performances the association “Latgale reps”, the group “baritoni”, the association “Texas sys Latgalis”, Arnis Slobožaņins, Etnographic ensemble “Vabalis”, “Lata Donga”, the folklore set “willows”, “Mr. and prints” and the Water, as well as the special guest – the group “the Sound Poets”.
Before the ceremony – 12.00, we call on the team's mind to play “Aļberts” in the “Punuk pi Boņuk”. Unfortunately, as a result of the artist's illness, the meeting with the artist Aigaru Bikis was cancelled at the exhibition “A. Bikšes struggle with emptiness”.
