To mention Latgale's freedom struggles

On 16 January, Rēzekne Municipality Rusenica held a festival in Rusenica to mention the events of Latgale's freedom of 99 years ago.

As a result of the veteran initiative, an area around the obelisk was formed at the end of the year, the stock company “Latvian State Forests” installed steps to easily access the obelisk, while the municipality of Rezekne municipality installed an informative plate on which information about the obelisk and struggles was provided in three languages. National Guard 32. The head of the Antonian Battalion veteran association Anton Caun, who had been awarded a second grade of the Order of the Order of the Order of the Order of the Viestura and the highest award of the municipality of Rezekne in the last year, considers that Latgale's freedom struggles should not be forgotten: “we are regularly participating in the cleaning talks of battle houses, last year our veterans rented a technique for their means to cut the trees, since the obelisk was previously located at the edge of the old road, but since the creation of the new highway Rezekne - Daugavpils, the monument remained neglected since it is no longer visible from the road. There are currently felled trees, steps and information plate. I am very pleased about what we have done, but we will continue to work - clean the forest so that it does not grow, take steps to tell about history. I have come to Rēzekne, the Bishop of Aglona's dienosis, with a request that the priests be more aware of history at the time of the service so that people don't forget the events of the past. '
Next event in Rusenica at the obelisk Jelgava 3. It will be held on 16 August – on the hundredth anniversary of the formation of the regiment, when it is planned to invite representatives of the municipality of Jelgava.
On 16 January 1920, Jelgava 3. The anti-personnel regiment struggled against the great army, and in 1936 a memorial obelisk with the text “3” was discovered. The place of the Jelgava infantry regiment was the place of victory in Latgale. 1920.16. I. we do not have the sun, freedom and independence for Latvia. The author of the monument was the engineer August Zilēvičs. The monument was discovered on 16 August 1936 by General Žanis Bachs, who was sentenced to an Adam visitor. After World War II, the upper part of the obelisk was dropped. In the summer of 1988, the monument was restored.
